Lately my 360 is getting constant disc unreadable errors. It started happening a lot with GTA IV, maybe every 60 to 90 minutes or so, but lately it seems to be getting worse. I finally gave up on playing LEGO Indiana Jones and sent it back to Gamefly because it kept getting an error right before the end of the level (and that game only allows saves between levels, so it was pretty frustrating).
I don't remember the exact language, but it's something like: "This disc is unreadable. It may be dirty or scratched." But I don't think the disc is the problem because it happens to every disc, and none of them look particularly scratched. Usually it plays for a while then I hear the way the disc drive spins change a bit, and soon after it fails.
It would cost like $100 to send it to Microsoft for repair, and almost $300 for a new console. However, if I wait until Fall, presumably I could use the "copy game to hard drive" feature to avoid this problem. But do I want to wait that long? Or start getting new games for my PS3 instead? PS3 is fine but playing new games without achievements doesn't sound like as much fun...
Anybody have any suggestions / ideas?

Constant Disc Unreadable Errors - What to do?
Go buy a DVD lens cleaner. They run about $15 bucks for a decent one at most retailers. It basically a DVD with a fuzzy pad on it, and sometimes it has a liquid alchohol solvent you can use. Just toss it in the 360 a couple of times and it may clear up your problems.
I have a couple games that won't read period, but since I've tried them on numerous 360s and they still won't work, I'm pretty sure its the game discs themselves and not the 360.
Did you move your 360 while a disc was playing? Maybe that messed up the reader. Its most likely a problem with the 360 if its happening to all of your discs... Guess you have to call MS and return it to 'em. :\
"kill it with towels then send it in for repair 90% of the time you get back a different console"
LMFAO!!
This might help, it worked for me.

canned air, spray it in the disk drive (just open like you were putting a game in and spray it inside the console).
