If I recover it on my Xbox & then transfer it onto a memorycard to play ODST on my friends Xbox, when I move it back to my Xbox do I get to keep my achievements?
As far as i recall you still keep your stuff. But if you gain any achievements while playing at your friends house, you need to be connected to the net so they can synch, other wise when you come home the achievements you got there wont be there when you recover you gamertag on your console.

That's what I'm talking about, he has no internet connection. I was hoping that they would sync with my profile when I brought it home.
If your saving your profile to the card then taking it to his house it should save all the achievements on the card so if you unlock any and bring the back home next time you sign in to xbox live it should update. Just remember not to delete the data on your memory card before signing into xbox live. Obviously if you dont connect to xbox live then it wont know that you got those achievements.

Exactly what I was thinking & hoping would happen! Thank god....
I dunno. Sometimes its odd, my friend and I decided to do Gears 1 and 2 on Insane and when he got his account back on his 360 he didn't have the last 4 achievements we got anymore.
