Gears of War, that's the game that also made me buy a 360. I remember how that game made my brain essentially do the equivalent of ejaculation. It looked so damn real at the time, before every game started using Unreal Engine 3 hahaha.
The first one I ever played was Oblivion, I can't remember what the first one I ever saw was. But to be honest, deep down one of my big motivations for buying a 360 was that I knew that whenever it was released, whatever form it took, Halo 3 (which hadn't even been remotely announced at the time) was going to be on that platform.
The unreal engine 3 tech demo with the wretches and locusts and brumaks back in 2004 was the first thing I saw I guess. First game I played was Hexic HD and GRAW.
Perfect Dark Zero. I remember it was one of the first launch titles and I got the X360 pretty soon after release, and my first thought was WHOA THE GRAPHICS. And my second thought was whoa this game is BAD. And my third thought was, I'm going back to Halo 2.
Mine was Call of Duty 3, just because it came free. I was pretty blown away though. I remember my first HD game too, it was Mass Effect and it was probably the greatest media-entertainment experience of my life.
Do screenshots count? Dark Sector would be the first then, since it had the first next-game gen screenshots to ever be shown. Ended up being a better game than it's given credit for too. Then again, I got it new for $3, so I'm probably just still really thrilled about that.
I owned a horror movie store at the time and one of my customers was telling me about this crazy zombie game like Dawn of the Dead that was coming out for the new 360. Once Dead Rising came out he bought it and hooked up his xbox in the store and we played it all day. I remember customers coming in and laughing like hell at us shooting golf balls at the zombies. Good times!
I remember seeing king kong on a gamestop demo station for the first time. I was so impressed by the graphics that i picked it up with my 360 at launch. Don't think there is any other video game purchase I regret more than that one.
Gears of War 1 back in 2007. Played it a a friend's house, split screen co-op, and it was pretty amazing. Can't recall if it was in HD or not, but I was impressed of how great it looked compared to the PS2.
First game i saw and played was Call of Duty 2 at a 360 kiosk at a futureshop shortly before the 360 launched.. i went to that store at least 3 times a week just to play that 20 minute demo, "man this is awesome" i thought.
First game I saw was Kameo. The game that got me to actually buy the 360 was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (thanks Bob Colayco). First game I played was Hexic HD.
Then... Geometry Wars took up most of my time on the system and my friends who wanted to play Halo 2 did not understand.
Geometry Wars. Even before I'd played it, that was the most attractive game on the system. Back then dual-stick shooters weren't common as dirt (and if you don't own a current console they still aren't) and I love them. So I was waited until there were enough other games I wanted that I could justify buying a console for a $5 game.
Saw: Kameo Played: Oblivion I still remember playing Oblivion for the first time like it was yesterday. I had it running on an HDTV at 720p and I was drooling the whole time. It was my very first achievement experience as well. I unlocked "Escaped the Imperial Sewers" on 4/6/2006 (which is when I bought my 360).
Call of Duty 2 was the first game I recall playing on the Xbox 360. I remember playing the demo in local game stores and being blown away by the graphics!
