GTA IV is now available on Games on Demand for $30. I recently sold GTA IV for $25 but I could see myself buying the game over again because I kind of regret selling it. I'm not sure how I feel about buying a game through digital distribution. After I buy the game I have no rights to do what I would like with it. I like the idea of being able to sell a game if I want to. Are you going to buy GTA IV through Games on Demand? If you already own the physical copy of the game would you rather have the digital copy? Please explain your answer.

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.

" @Karmum said:Perhaps when the prices aren't so unreasonable. 20GB isn't that bad, I really don't even install game to my HDD, unless they begin to freeze. Which isn't often." I already own the physical copy. Besides, I have a 20GB HDD, and one game alone would take up too much space on my harddrive. "You should really consider upgrading. It must be tough managing HDD space with that little memory. "
How much does a 60GB run for? $100 so? Maybe if it went to $50 - $75.
Maybe. I wish MS went the Sony route for their HDD.
" Dead Space is up on Games on Demand next week. "I might be tempted to get this. Although, it would take a lot out of my HDD. Might want to pick this up at retail.
Buying something twice (assuming you still own the first copy) is just retarded. Don't do it people.
It's a great addition, I think it's pretty cool that you can play the entire Grand Theft Auto IV experience without any physical medium.
That said, I'm happy with the collector's edition stuff that I got...
Wow, fuck Microsoft. You can buy the actual game brand new for $28 on Amazon. Even if I was really interested in buying digital content from a company who I don't trust to let me still have playable access to it in a decade (on the next generation of console, etc) and I was interested in wasting that much bandwidth and storage, I sure wouldn't pay more money than it costs for the version that actually has to be packaged and shipped and stored and boxed and delivered and manufactured.
Also, what's the difference between buying a game on Steam and XBOX's On-Demand? I have enough faith in Valve to believe I'll have access to and be able to play the games I purchase for the foreseeable future while I'm sure that -- at the absolute best -- Microsoft will probably make me buy it all over again (or simply cut off access entirely) when the next generation of the console comes out.
Also, while I'm not a "I must have a physical copy of everything!" guy, I do like to collect video games and when it comes to digital (ESPECIALLY from certain digital vendors) it feels like I don't actually own anything and I most certainly don't have anything to "add to my collection". My real copy of GTA IV will be around in twenty years. My digital download will probably be shut off by Microsoft in a couple years.

If I buy a game off Xbox Live I can download it as many times as I want to as many consoles as I want. If I download a album off iTunes and my computer crashes I'm fucked.
Since I don't have a job, I am a big supporter of the used games market. You don't get that with downloadable games. So how do I go deal hunting? That's why I'm not buying a PSP Go, and also why I won't buy this game digitally. I only buy physical media. I don't know. I just like the feeling of having a physical game disc to collect and seeing all of the cases on my shelf.

" @Wolverine said:I agree that it is rational to want to have physical media rather than downloads but not for the reasons you stated. I buy physical media because it is cheaper and because I can sell it or let my friends borrow it when I'm done with it. The reason you gave is that you like to see all of your games add up on your shelf. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but I wouldn't call it rational." @Strongba1 said:I don't think so. And, yes, you can re-download games you've already purchased on our XBOX 360 to your XBOX 360. This is the absolute minimum expectation I would have for any digital service and is exactly why I do not use iTunes. Amazon allows you to re-download your entire purchased collection. But what about down the road? Will you be able to download it or play it on the next console generation? Will you even be able to download it and play it on the XBOX 360 after the next generation of consoles comes out and they shut down the "old" Xbox Live 360 service? What about the XBOX and XBLA games that you buy on your XBOX 360? Will those still be downloadable and playable on the new consoles? Or at the very least, remain so on the 360, despite the newer generations coming out? Or are you going to have to re-buy them all over again for each console generation? -- Assuming they continue to offer them on each new generation. And instead of being able to, say, download and play GTA IV in a few years when the next generation comes out, are they going to make you buy it all over again via a new service on the new console for more money?
You would think these issues would be laid out and the questions answered now and very noticeably rather than leaving everyone in the dark to wonder what's going to happen some day. People will be awfully sad in a few years when they lose access to a lot of content. And while you might say "gee, Microsoft has always done right by people", I might ask you to recall a time not too long ago when Microsoft's MSN Music service thing shut down their DRM servers and everyone lost access to their entire paid for music collections, because the DRM server they had to connect to for authorization to play a song was gone.
