So I'm considering upgrading my Xbox to a slim model by buying the 4GB version and getting a 320GB hard drive separately. Some of the third-party ones available are way cheaper and work great but if you want to play old Xbox games you have to flash one of the partitions somehow... Does anyone know how to do this? I've Googled it and can't figure it out. If anyone could give me step by step instructions I wouldn't have to pay 100 dollars or more for the hard drive. Thanks.

This thread on the Xbox forums says that it's not actually legal and goes against Microsoft's TOS. Because of this, this thread's probably against Giant Bomb's forum rules.

EDIT: I know, we end up paying through the nose for HDDs with much less space than we're used to, but those are the apples...
