Despite the Xbox One coming out later this year, Microsoft and several developers have said that they intend to continue supporting the Xbox 360 and it's Live for several years. Lionhead Studios was one such company to say so (the creators of Fable). I also read that is what Microsoft said in a 360 magazine I was looking at the other day. And that "if you don't want to play always online, get a 360" could mean something (other than Microsoft punching its fans in the face). How do you feel about this?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Microsoft to keep supporting Xbox 360
Isn't it expected? Pretty similar to the ds and PS2 (rip) situation. The huge install base means it can't be ignored. Hell, games that are on 360 and xbox one will sell more on 360. I'd prefer if they dropped it and allowed developers to focus on the 'next big thing'. But i'm sure some will be glad they can play GTAV on their 360
The whole "if you don't want to play always online, get a 360" is a turkey slap to consumers and (I don't think) is related to them supporting the console. It's pretty shitty that instead of 'fixing' what consumers had issues with, we're told to buy the previous version.

Super Time Force
Edit: That may have been announced before Gears though, I'm not too sure.

"Supporting" the 360 seems to mean they will keep letting 3rd party publishers make games for it so they can collect on licensing.
Words are water.
I would imagine "supporting" to mean they will continue to manufacture the systems, maintain Live infrastructure (including tech support), and put out dashboard updates when necessary. This is really to be expected since there is no backwards compatibility on the Xbox One.
To be honest they haven't really been supporting the 360 for the past couple of years. I'd say 2010 was the last year they actually did. Since then it has been a gears or halo game along with forza...
Oh, no doubt. There are so many of those boxes out there and they are still selling pretty well, even now.
But, has the betting pool started on which year they take down Xbox Live for 360? It's just a matter of time now.
I dunno know man I'd think there could still some years of money to be made off subscriptions for their "budget console", if they spun it right..
