Funny story, just turned my 360 on like an hour ago and seen it. Turned it off and back on and now it's fine. I hope I don't get a 2nd red ring on the same system. :-(
All my systems have been replaced for free, they have an automatic free 3 year warranty on all systems. They clearly need to lower their HDD prices though, those are complete bullshit.

So do it and stop complaining! Microsoft already apologized and gave you an extended warranty. If those terms weren't good enough you should have moved on. This isn't a secret anymore.
Electroncs fail. My PS2 failed after 4 years, I've had countless DVD players that have bit the big one. I soooooo can't wait for solid state hardware to take over. Once you add moving parts there's no telling how long it will last.

@WilliamRLBaker: Thats what everyone tells me, that i'm a lucky one that has a 360 that work just fine. I have an elite unit as well, they seem to be way more bug free, only times I've ever seen a red ring is when the power goes off and then on it will light up red, but I just turn it off and back on and its fine.
@ConfusedSanity: have you just gotten it fixed, cause that some times won't solve the problem. You might be getting red ringed from the exact same model you sent in.
also have ya tried an elite, they seem to be way more stable.
Also if you think its going to red ring and keep thinkin about it, more then likely it will, try focasing more on it works just fine, and it will last a long time. yeah i know sounds silly but it works more often then you think.
also the 360 does make noise, but have you listened to a ps3 when you put a game disc in, #%@$ it sounds like its going to explode, unlike the 360 pretty much just stays at the same sound level all the time which is less then what I've hear from my brother's & other's ps3 we had to turn the tv up just to drown out the ps3 noise.
Little wonder how Microsoft can sell so many consoles... Some people just buy em and buy em and buy em....
The platform is great, hardware reliability not so much.

Also, there are a lot of reasons to bitch about the PS3 not having backwards compatibility unlike the Xbox360. The Xbox360 does have a functioning emulator to play "Xbox Originals". Even at that, why would you want to remove backwards compatibility with the PS2, the best game console of all time? Even if there are long string of mediocre games that come out, at least you can keep yourself content with older games. I am probably buying an Xbox, but there aren't even that many games even I want for it except for 7 games.

Aren't you getting sick of having to replace it three times so far?. I mean, would you have tolerated this from any other kind of hardware?
Though they do have a good Fix/Replacement plan, though I would expect no less of them since they are the one who knowingly decided to sell a faulty hardware.
Someone just posted a video in the forum about how to fix it, it works you just need to make sure its the overheating problem and not another system failure.

I see. WEll you don't know Godwind personally, so you should give the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he has enough technical knowledge in order to do that fix and not ruin his 360 in the process.
