So I moved to a new house, and now I have to use a wireless 360 adapter because I can't get a cable going to the 360. When I plug it in, it asks for the WEP key. How can I find it out? I've read stuff online about having to plug in my computer directly to the router and punch in some ip address or something, but that didn't work. Sorry, but I'm rather computer illiterate when it comes to some things.

Weird. I never got anything like that when I plugged mine in. Just hooked it up and it was ready to go.

That said, I did pay $108 for the damn thing.

@GlenTennis: If you type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser, it will likely allow you to mess with your router's settings. If you don't know the username and password required to log in, just google the name of your router and "username and password" or something. Anyway, there should be a section called wireless settings or something. If you poke around a bit, you should be able to find your WEP code. Basically it's an encryption code used to protect your network from the bad guys.

Maybe you've already figured it out by now. Let me know if you're not able to figure something out though.

WEP is the security on your wireless router. It will either say on the back or if not someone has put the password on themselves so try asking whoever you live with.

Thanks everyone in this thread. Turns out what was confusing me was a bunch of places I read was that it was 10 digits, whereas mine was a bunch more.

Just buy a second router and have it as a bridge. Cheaper then paying what MS want for that over priced piece of junk "adopter". If you are computer illiterate as you claim, which I doubt, then just have a friend help wit it. You gotta know someone that understand these things. Besides, Tested.com has really good articles that explain exactly how to set up and optimize a wireless network.
