So I get home from work, looking to watch Netflix, turn on Xbox, has a system update so I update. I decide to watch TV in the meantime, check back every so often to see progress, check it, Xbox is frozen on the start up loading screen. I restart my system and same thing happens. It does its logo fly by, then a white screen with a loading circle then my background picture from the theme I have pops in, circle still going but 5 seconds later, it freezes.

I've done this 3 times now, same result. Even have the disc tray empty. Has this happened to anyone else?

Solution seems to be unplugging your network cable. Freeze occurs when you try to sign into your live account.

Have you tried booting up without being connected to Xbox Live? I had a similar issue and was unable to load the home screen. Unplugged my Xbox from the network and it booted normally. Haven't had the issue since.

i found that if you want to play a game, like myself, i wanted to play halo 4 but having the same problems signing in before i could even get to the main screen. Simply just launch the game once the xbox loads to the sign in screen (unless you have automatic sign in...then you might be screwed), launch the game, and then choose your gamer profile. I haven’t had any problems with the game so far, but i dont wanna try going to the dashboard yet to fuck it up.

Or just unplug the wireless router, or disconnect the wifi adapter on your 360 if you have one.

I haven't noticed this, but I have had both Blops 2 and Modern Warfare 3 freeze on me since I updated. Only during online matches though, and the only way to shut down then is unplugging the console from the power source. Single player doesn't seem to give me any problems though, and the thing boots up fine afterward.

*note: xbox must be off before step one*

Step 1 : disconnect from internet

    Step 2: turn on xbox

    Step 3 : insert game

    Step 4: start game

Step 5 : reconnect to internet

    step 6: sign in

    step 7: kick ass online

Five people made an account just to discuss this problem on the forums? It must be serious then.

In case anybody hasn't tried it since, but was having the problem yesterday, it was a known issue that Xbox Support says they have fixed.

Yeah it's starting to seem like a real forum now. I wish this happened more often.

I am still having freeze issues on startup. But just with my Xbox at home, my Xbox at work is fine and plays online no prob, then I come home and it freezes on the Xbox logo screen. I've tried using my work HDD, no different, no network, nada, no disc in, zip! I even tried a different power brick... Anyone know if this Xbox is salvageable? Or should I take it to the back forty and shotgun it?

Did you ever talk to microsoft? Def sounds like a mechanical issue. Is it an original 360? Could be the dvd drive malfunctioning or it just overheating.
