The best way to experience Los Angeles is to never, ever go to Los Angeles, which is why it’s nice that Microsoft will be giving you a convenient way to avoid that by streaming its E3 press conference through Xbox Live this year.

Microsoft’s press conference takes place on Monday, June 4, and should kick off around 10:00 a.m. PST.

We’ll be there. Probably. I guess.

Microsoft isn’t the first company to offer alternate ways to watch its E3 press conference. Last year, Sony held a live stream of its press conference through Home. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than Los Angeles.

You never saw the 2010 Nintendo conference, the one where every other game was bigger than the next? I think that's the one they announce donkey kong, epic yarn, kid icarus and luigis mansion 2, it was insane.

It's always livestreamed over the web, but not by first party sources.

So long as I can find the old crew and have the big old skype reunion, I'm excited.

The best way to hear about the Xbox is by not using an Xbox.

The Xbox Dashboard is harder to navigate than Los Angeles.

There, those are my two jokes. Take your pick.

Sony actually put up their press conference on PSN for download as well, which is the way I watched it. Like many of you, I actually have to work everyday, so seeing it live isn't an option, no matter where its broadcast.

Is there an easy way to see a decent quality Microsoft conference after the fact?

Why don't they do it through Xbox.com if you're logged in? FFS, Microsoft. Xbox Live is really slow and clunky. I'd rather not have to deal with constant stuttering and crashing.

And then I actually realized I probably wouldn't even watch this live regardless, so nevermind.

Los Angeles is fine. All you need is to have a car, and you're set. There will be traffic (and that totally sucks), but as long as you have a car you'll be fine. If you try and use public transport, you might as well just not go.

Heh. When I lived in LA, I tried to take the Metro from downtown to Burbank. It took 3 busses, 2.5 hours, and about $5 in homeless pity fees.

The best experience of watching an E3 press conference is actually sitting there for real. You have to endure all the crap about how well systems are selling and all that boring crap but when the games get playing especially the most anticipated games on the massive screen it has to be the best. Those lucky game journalists.

If i recall correctly, the last few years, different companies have been doing this (live streaming), and it usually works, although there a lag... hopefully the lag this year won't be noticeable, but who knows, and don't forget, these events almost never start on time people, so please don't spam the chat room with useless text... ah, who am i kidding, that all that going to be in the chat, that and 'who won E3?','Company B won","No company C did", "You're a fanboy", "No you are", etc...

Sigh, i guess my only real hope is that people in the press and at home won't pick a cgi /non-gameplay trailer as their best of show again... but i know they will :(

Mister Klepek, I like your writing, but this one had a taint of jadedness to it with regards to what seems to be the hassle of e3. I feel that this attitude is endemic to most of the gaming press as of late and it saddens me.

There's nothing positive to say about LA for the most part, other than most of the time its at least 80 miles away from me.

But I've got to let you in on a little secret:

    I HATE San Francisco too.

Regardless of your interest in being there, you miss 80% of the news and info coming out of E3 purely by being there in the thick of the madness, rather than observing it all from a distance in a distilled format like you will at home.
