So apparently Xbox Germany said the following on facebook today, 
 

 "A lot of long-term change was desired by Xbox LIVE users the limit of 100 friends. With the update you can now up to 1,000 friends of your friends list. How many friends do you have? Not enough? Then you looking for new friends on the Finder tab!"    

That's... insane... Madness... I can't even imagine playing with 1000 other people you know or are acquainted with online.

you can technically have 10.000 already.  Friends of friends are easy to find.

The only people who fill up their friends list are people who are famous on the internet, like the GB crew. No regular person is going to have 100 friends, let alone a thousand. I've got between 20 and 30, but at least ten were people who never ger oline anymore, or people I just frended to play some Halo or Left for Dead matches and could be removed.

That seams excessive and pointless to have that many . Most people are just going to have a lot of random people adding you and withing 3 months of having a shit ton of "friends" your just going to forget who half of them are anyway and end up deleting them. I'd say 500 max would be fine for people who are in clans and such. 1000? that's FaceCreep territory.

Oh man this is going to make TNT really interesting.

Sounds a little too close to the recent announcement that WoW was increasing the limit of a guild to 1000.  Maybe a translation issue or crossed communication.
 
I could see XBL adding a new kind of account level for celebrities and media to allow for larger numbers, like a VIP or Professional level.

I hope this is true, then I'd get a good chance to be added to ice T's friends list.

I refuse. Absolutely refuse. You'd get pop-up notifications every goddamned second. 

I usually only had people I know in real life and GB duders. However i know the staff would love this.

What i could see most likely happening is either there is a "premium" friends list. Fork over another $5.00 and it will increase your list by 100. That or there is a style of watched list. Kinda like twitter. You can follow someone else and see what they are playing but they aren't friends with you.

Oh, shit. That's gonna kill my xbox with the number of toasts coming up. Pressing the Guide button will be a pain in the ass.

I still think a distict friends list per game would be better than a bigger general list.
