This could just be a guess on Amazon's part. I wouldn't put too much value into this.

I moved mine to the local Gamestop because I live in an apartment complex so no need to worry about having to be home when it arrives.

Hmmmm it seems a little on the late side, but still within reason. EDIT: upon further consideration I realized the day before thanksgiving seems HIGHLY UNBELIEVABLE. I mean, that's probably the busiest day of the year travel-wise and people won't have time to get their fucking pre-ordered box because they need to do things like get to their families. The 360 was released two days before thanksgiving. Now, that's a little more reasonable. A little. The ps4 was nov 11 the following year (which is also kinda weird, but less significantly. Why on armistice day?) So I'm gonna say Xbox One: roughly between 11/19 and 11/27. The ps4 will be between 11/12 and 11/19.

Again I would have been deeply amused for a dual console release on black Friday.

Its late, but I could see it happening depending on where MS is at with their manufacturing. Or it could be a fake out by MS and they intend to surprise people early.

The "leak" of a release date to Amazon, probably the biggest pre-order destination, is a smart move. Its the one advantage they have over Sony at first glance. Where Sony is still showing a speculated release for the end of the year, people pre-ordering an Xbox have firm date as of now.

Or, you know, they could just announce the release date for the console. It's not exactly a firm release date if it's unofficial and presumed speculative.

@rebgav: I guess, but I would imagine at least a little more fanfare. This comes days after their 180 on DRM when they have a little good will. Now is the time to announce the date and tack it to the MS Wire homepage when people are still trafficking the site to look at the DRM article. Why go this obscure route if its official? They didn't even buy a banner on the Amazon homepage. That's why I think this is a total deke, either Amazon or MS are looking at the numbers and trying to find small ways to boost sales.

I'd think they would release on Nov. 19th, the same day Watchdog comes out as well as other third party games that are on the next gen platforms.

Really though, do you know how many times I've seen that date change on Amazon's page the last couple of weeks. I'm not holding stock in anything until it comes from the big M or S themselves.

@subyman: then that means the PS4 launch thread leak we saw would be fake because Watch Dogs is also a PS4 launch title.

Unless they have it so the PS4 launches with watch dogs before the PS3 and 360 versions

I could be misremembering but I think that at the end of the Jimmy Fallon demo of Watch Dogs they said that the release date was Nov. 19th for current gen and "when they come out" for new consoles. Trying to discern console dates based on Watch Dogs might be a wasted effort.

Watch dogs is a confirmed Launch title for PS4. I do not think they would release the PS4 and watch dogs before the PS3 version. (Or Xbox 360 version)

I think that Ubi will be there on launch day regardless of when the PS4 ships. Manufacture/ship dates are probably a lot easier to discern for PS3/360 titles than next-gen right now.

People in gaf are reporting emails from amazon stating its release on the 27th

That seems like an odd day to launch, mid-week right at the start of the holiday season. Especially if there are no consoles available for parents/casual consumers doing Black Friday shopping who didn't preorder.

My bet is microsoft wants to hit the news cycle. You know every single station is going to be calling it the hot thing nobody can get and that's just going to make people want it more. I wonder if Sony can hit that window.

I just got an email from Amazon saying the Xbox One I preordered has been upgraded to release day delivery will arrive on Nov. 27th.

Why wouldn't they want to get their preorder install base all set, then have the next batch of consoles ready to hit the stores for Black Friday, unless they're making a lot more consoles than they esitmate they'll have preorders for and be able to satisfy demand.

@agnosticjesus: @the_laughing_man: Those e-mails from Amazon are just their standard automated messages that are sent out any time a release date changes. It doesn't necessarily mean the date is accurate.
