I have been hearing good things about this game and it really piqued my interest. The only issue is one with me. Lately I have been really sensitive towards what I can perceive as sexism in JRPG's. I'm worried that this game will turn me off by having overly sexualized female characters. Or being poorly developed.

More importantly are the female characters in this game interesting and have there own thing happening or are they all JRPG tropes.

Or is the game so good one can overlook ye ol JRP tropes for a fun experience.

I don't mean to incite or inflame, I really want to play a jrpg, but I don't want me to ruin the game for myself. It's combat looks great and the setting seems fresh. I would rather just look elsewhere the be a spoil sport for all the people who enjoy this game.

All of the characters are poorly developed JRPG tropes.

It's fun for sure. Really beautiful, too, with huge open areas to explore. The characters really aren't anything to write home about, but I did like Fiora quite a bit. She goes through some shit.
I'd definitely recommend it, but it's not the flawless masterpiece or messiah of the second coming of the JRPG's golden age some have made it out to be in the past. Still very good game. I enjoyed the hell out of my ~140 hours with it - that's one playthrough, btw.

I didn't finish it or anything, so keep that in mind, but I don't remember anything being egregious. I came to the game originally because I liked the idea of the scale of the environments and didn't expect to have any interest in the story. I rolled my eyes at it in the beginning, Fiora being your standard clingy love interest I braced myself for 100 hours of putting up with that. Then some stuff happened I didn't expect and that was kind of neat.

There's armor in the game that's basically "no armor" underwear or bathing suits, but it goes both ways and I don't think it crosses over into fetish pandering or anything. I'm pretty sensitive to this stuff myself, but recall finding the game fine with that stuff.

Fire Emblem is also pretty good, simple characters that get a bit of development in their side stuff. Stuff worth seeing. There's some kind of DLC that seems like it's an anime beach episode, I think. I never bothered with it.

I don't think the game itself is that fantastic, but if you really are holding back because of how the female characters are portrayed I don't think you have anything to worry about. There's really no disproportionately gender-specific sexualization going in there at all. But this may be a factor of the characters in general being fairly bland compared to other JRPGs. How you feel about sidequest content filler will determine how you like the game way more.
