Overview
Created by Hanna-Barbera Productions, Yogi bear made his debut on the Huckleberry Hound Show in 1958. Later, in 1961, he was given his own show titled
The Yogi Bear Show. He has since become world renowned for his catchphrases and unique image. Residing in Jellystone National Park, he spends his days pursuing pic-a-nic baskets and avoiding the troublesome Park Ranger.

Yogi is an anthropomorphic bear. This means he retains human qualities such as his upright posture, and speech. He is known to wear an olive derby hat with matching tie. His famous collar was used as a way to keep his body still while drawing him, this way only the head would need to be drawn moving. He travells with his small, blue bow-tie dawning sidekick known as
Boo boo.
Catchphrases
Aside from his tendency to speak in rhymes, some very memorable catchphrases are closely related to Yogi Bear. His most prominent being "I'm smarter than the average bear!", often used when doubted by his loyal side-kick. His phonetically spoken version of "pic-a-nic" baskets has become very popular. Lastly, his greetings for fellow members of Jellystone Park, including "Hey Boo boo!" for his side-kick, and "Hello, Mr. Ranger, sir!"
