    A trilogy of early adventure games created by Yuji Horii, who would later become famous for creating the Dragon Quest franchise. The trilogy consists of:

    These games popularized the adventure game genre in Japan and helped paved the way for Horii's seminal Dragon Quest series, with many elements being borrowed between them. The trilogy also had a major influence on many famous game designers such as Hideo Kojima, who was a fan of the Portopia Serial Murder Case, and featured various firsts in gaming history in Japan.
