Overview
Sayonara Umihara Kawase is the third installment in the Umihara Kawase series of puzzle platformers. The title was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS and was later ported to the PlayStation Vita and PC with various enhancements.
Sayonara was published by Agatsuma Entertainment and developed by Studio Saizensen with the series' original programmer, Kiyoshi Sakai, and the character designer, Toshinobu Kondo. The game was published in Japan on June 30, 2013 and Natsume released the title as Yumi's Odd Odyssey for the North American eShop on March 20, 2014. A Vita port was published internationally by Agatsuma Entertaiment in April of 2015 and the game's title was changed back to it's original Japanese name. Agatsuma also released a PC version Sayonara Umihara Kawase the same year in the United States during October. However, after the closure of Agatsuma Entertainment in December 2015, Degica Games acquired the rights to the Umihara Kawase franchise and re-published Sayonara Umihara Kawase on Steam on January 28, 2016 after the game had previously been delisted.
Gameplay
Several different characters are playable in Sayonara Umihara Kawase including a now 20-year old Umihara, her original kid self, Yokoyama (an undercover time cop), and Emiko-chan (a friend of young Kawase). All the characters have special skills such as Yokoyama's ability to slow down time and Emiko-chan's ability to create check points mid-level. The game also features unlockable costumes and a time attack mode with online leader boards. The Vita version also contains a fully playable copy of the original Umihara Kawase game as a bonus.
