Colonel Tungsteena Zarpedon was the leader of a battalion of Dahl soldiers during the initial attempts to colonize Pandora's moon, Elpis. When the moon was devastated by a natural disaster referred to as "the Crackening", Dahl abandoned the soldiers there, leading to them becoming "the Lost Legion". Zarpedon lead the survivors to discover that the Crackening had uncovered a Vault hidden on Elpis, and discovered that it contained a secret Zarpedon was convinced could threaten all life in the universe. When it became clear that the Hyperion Corporation, embodied by the endlessly greedy and power-hungry Jack, was hellbent on finding everything of value on Elpis, Zarpedon lead the Lost Legion on an attack on Hyperion's local seat of power, Helios Space Station.

After taking control of Helios Station, Zarpedon began to fire its secret superweapon, a massive laser array called the Eye of Helios, into the surface of the moon, intending to "protect" the secret of the Vault by destroying it, along with the rest of Elpis and all of the colonists living there, not to mention devastating the surface of Pandora in the process. Opposing her was a team of Vault Hunters hired by Jack, consisting of Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, Athena the Gladiator, and a ClapTrap reprogrammed for combat, named FragTrap.
