Personally, my top villains would definitely lead Megatron, because for me it's already legendary and forever.

My favorite quote from his live-action incarnation is:

"You failed me yet again Starscream, GET THEM!"

  • Kylo Ren (Star Wars Sequels)
  • Davros, the Creator of the Daleks. (Dr Who)
  • Q from ST:TNG, because he was fun.
  • Rachni Queen, leader of a near extinct insect-like species (Mass Effect)
  • Khan, once again just a super fun adversary from Star Trek (Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan).

  • Hal 9000, I think Hal vs Skynet you have to go with Hal...again just more interesting and fun (2001 A Space Odyssey)
  • Lucifer, the robot assistant to Count Baltar from 1980s Battlestar Galactica

The Sun from the movie Sunshine.

I really like how some of the crew became weirdly transfixed by it. I also prefer to consider the human villain as an extension of the suns affects on the crew.

Crosshair from Star Wars Bad Batch.

Unable to resist the affects of clone programming and further manipulation, the end result is a killer whose only loyalty is blind obedience to order. A walking reminder to the protagonists of a lost ally and a lingering fear that any of them could have been susceptible such control.

Scorpious from FarScape

Aside from some dark background and looking like William Dafoe in fetish gear he starts out as an obsessed villain chasing the heroes while being an overarching villain when the current antagonist veers into anti hero territory. He becomes more interesting when compromised, stripped of most of his power and forced to engage with the protagonists as less a warlord and more a exiled dictator.

I'll fix the mistake of him not being listed yet:

T-1000/Liquid Metal Terminator (Terminator 2)

@gtxforza: Yeah, loved how in a lot of the Transformers iterations (at least from the original cartoons IIRC), Starscream is an absolutely shitty 2IC who half the time actively schemes to overthrow Megatron, yet Megatron doesn’t ever just kick him to the curb and be done with it (I’m sure in some storylines, this does happen, but it doesn’t seem to happen on the whole).

@merxworx01: man, I really wish the second half of that movie weren't a mess (Sunshine I mean).

For me, it begins and ends with Cohagen, that fucking air stealing prick.

@sethmode: I'm still fond of it. The number of great scenes really make the movie in my opinion. I absolutely love the scene where the captain knows he's going to die on the reflector shield and while the rest of the crew is telling him to move the science officer is on a private channel asking him what does he see.

The captain does the only thing he can do: turn to look at the life giving sun before it turns him into ash.

Assuming Men in Black counts, Edgar is one of my most favourite bad guys of all time.
