Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I,
Well, yet again, the biggest news item we need to discuss isn't debatable. This week, Giant Bomb shared new details about its final steps towards full independence. I strongly encourage you to read the FAQ I linked to if you have not done so already and if you feel like a question hasn't been answered, send an email to [email protected].
However, let's talk about the big piece from this. In order to comply with new online privacy laws and regulations, everyone on the current site will need to log into their current Giant Bomb accounts at least once before the site migration to the new site. If you do not, you will lose the ability to carry your current Giant Bomb account to the new website and will need to create a new account on the new site. As the FAQ also clarifies, anyone who signs up for a Giant Bomb account and/or Premium between now and the launch of the new giantbomb.com will have their account automatically transferred over.

If when you attempt to opt-in, you get an error or it doesn't seem like it worked, drop a comment in "site-tech-issues" on the Giant Bomb Discord or send an email to [email protected].
I know all of this sounds scary, but if you are reading this right now, you likely already have opted into the migration. What we all need to do is reach out to friends and close compatriots that have graced this site over its many years to implore them to continue their legacies where Giant Bomb plans to go next. There are countless community members I can think of that played a major role in defining what Giant Bomb's forums and site was that are not here anymore. They deserve a shot to hold onto their usernames if they want. So, if you know anyone who hasn't logged in to say hello in a while, reach out to them and encourage them to be a part of the next phase of Giant Bomb. We still have time to do this and I believe in our collective ability to do go.
Speaking of the new site, the beta continues to truck on and if you have premium and haven't joined the fun, here's the URL link. If you want more details on what is and is not coming to the new site, here's an article that explains everything. The beta site recently dropped an early version of the forums, which you can check out over here!
It honestly doesn't get said enough, but huge THANKS to Chuck for everything they have done to navigate the site's future.
Moving on to other things, last week you may recall that I mentioned Jan participating in a charity drive with the New York Videogame Critics Circle. If you missed their stream, here's a link to the VOD and if you forgot to donate, here's a link to the Tiltify page. Congratulations to everyone involved raising over $4,000!
Some of you might be aware that this month MSI has pledged support for the staff and the site and are currently offering the GB community 10% off regularly priced Intel B860/Z890 motherboards at their US Store. Just use code "bombcast" at checkout.
Finally, if you still haven't watched the latest collaboration between Giant Bomb and Kinda Funny, you need to give that a watch RIGHT NOW! Skeptical? What if I told you the video marked guest appearances of Drew and Rorie representing Team Giant Bomb? COME ON! JUST LOOK AT DREW'S STACHE!
