I bet this would look pretty hot at 1680x1050.
I bet this would look pretty hot at 1680x1050.
Putting a fighting game, where things like individual frames and such are important to gameplay, on a PC, where the range of hardware is so widely varied that developers can't really guarantee how well their games will run on one machine to the next, sounds kind of dicey to me. But as long as you meet the hardware requirements, you'll probably be fine, right?

Capcom has released the minimum and recommended hardware specs for the upcoming PC release of Street Fighter IV. So if you've been wringing your hands, wondering if your setup will be able to handle all that hot fighting action, wonder no more.

Minimum
OS: Windows XP
CPU: Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz or higher
RAM: 1GB or higher
HDD: 10GB of free space or more
Video Card: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce6600 series, ATI Radeon(TM) X1600 or higher or higher, VRAM :256MB or higher
Sound: DirectSound compatible, DirectX 9.0c (or higher) compatible
Input Devices: Mouse, Keyboard

Maximum
OS: Windows Vista
CPU: Intel Core2Duo 2.0GHz or higher
RAM: 2GB or higher
HDD: 10GB of free space or more
Video Card: DirectX 9.0c/Shader3.0 or higher compatible, NVIDIA GeForce8600 series or higher, ATI Radeon(TM) X 1900 or higher, VRAM :512MB or higher
Sound: DirectSound compatible, DirectX 9.0c (or higher) compatible
Input Devices: Gamepad :Xbox360 Controller for Windows

I don't know if I'd consider using an Xbox 360 controller to be the "maximum" way to play SFIV, but if they put "dude, buy one of our pricey joysticks" in that space, that'd just be weird... but that's totally how I intend to play this version of the game. Now I just need to sit back and wonder if this Games for Windows Live release will have separate achievements or if it'll share points with the 360 release.

I hope my gamepad the logitec cordless rumble pad 2 will work with it. It should I suppose, you should be able to remap the buttons. I don't have the xbox360's controller. I meet all the requirements easily, since it's not really that high. I didn't buy the console version, so i'm looking forward to this game.

I love the 360 and all but its controller ruins the fighting game experience with its bad, bad, horrible, terrible, grotesque excuse for a D-Pad.

No reason why our fightsticks can't work on the PC since it uses a usb cable.

I've never heard of a game having maximum specs.

I agree with Fei, thank GOD Capcom at least had the decency to release those fightpads

I am really looking forward to this version, and have been from the start. The precise timing required is likely to be locked to the games FPS rate, at those minimum specs there should be no problem at all.

Real Arcade Pro EX-SE, ftw on PC.

One more time, fuck you MS & your conspiarators for fucking over joypads. Fuck you.

Edit: Well all that still stands, but I just thought I'd clarify that despite what this prerelease presser implyed, said conspiarators included not Capcom, whom I discovered soon after SF IV's release, did a capital job in all area's of the port, including my ancient no name Direct Input joypad being recognised & working with no kerfuffle. Great job.

Hmm...I wonder how it'll run on my MacBook Pro. SF4 on the road would be amazing!

The only thing I like in the pc version is like the 4 different filters...wish that was an option on the consoles...

I actually find using the keyboard on PC fighting games to be much easier to pull combos with than with a controller. The keys feel just like the joystick's buttons.

Like we can rely on what they tell us are the PC Specs. PC Specs are a bunch of bullshit.

I can play it, yay!

Wonder what the framerate will be at those specs.  It's important to have 60fps in the game...

@Diamond: Yeah, anything else could be detrimental to playing. :p

I wasn't being a smartass! Everyone is so sensitive... :(
I was imaginging what it would be like at 2fps and thought it would be funny.

Those specs are like from a PC back in 2005 so everyone should be able to play
