Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Aug 21, 2012
The fourth iteration of Valve's team-based modern-military first-person shooter, rebuilt and constantly expanded for competitive play with new maps, new weapons, and new gameplay mechanics. It was later made free-to-play and most versions were later replaced with the sequel.
New trailer out - It's pretty amazing
The problem with all these shorts that valve makes is that they have all recently been for multiplayer games, when they make these for something like Portal because that game is more of a controlled experience they help give you a feel of the tone and attitude of the game but for a game like Counter-strike it's pointless because there are so many variables online that chances are your experience won't feel anything like what is shown in that animation. That's why I wish Valve would announce a more single-player game, or at least something more story driven.
I don't think anyone watches their shorts thinking "OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE AN IDENTICAL EXPERIENCE TO THAT."The problem with all these shorts that valve makes is that they have all recently been for multiplayer games, when they make these for something like Portal because that game is more of a controlled experience they help give you a feel of the tone and attitude of the game but for a game like Counter-strike it's pointless because there are so many variables online that chances are your experience won't feel anything like what is shown in that animation. That...Didn't do much for me, surprisingly.

Great, Valve made another military shooter instead of Half Life. Yippee.... Hurray....
I know you're being saracastic and everything, but I'm genuinely happy about Valve making something other than Half-Life! So yaaaaaaaaay!

I didn't say that people would think that, I said that these cgi trailers are pointless because I doubt this game would have the same tone or drama that these shorts are displaying, especially with something like CS, and that I'd like to see more story driven games from them because trailers like this (and their past games) show that they can do it quite well in my opinion.
Really cool but to bad that it's not gameplay footage CSGO is meh though compared to 1.6 and source.
Still impressive what they can do with Source. But I'd rather a new Valve IP one of these days. I don't even care about Half Life anymore, I just wish they wouldn't buy other ideas and make them awesome. At some point they need to think up a new name and make that spectacular. After HL3 (if that ever happens) what next?
They're busy developing Source 2 which is what Half-Life 3 will ship with.Has Valve become so Steam focused that they don't spend any time developing new franchises, or at least the HL sequel? I'm sure CS fans are happy but where's the new stuff? Good god it's been a while too. Oh I forgot that new add-on for L4D2, but still. :/
No where near pixar quality animation.
I wouldn't even say Square comes close to Pixar and they're leagues above this.
Don't get me wrong it's cool, but the animation isn't mind blowing.

from what I remember Valve isn't even making it and the people from Defense Grid are behind this title.

Valve said, at one point, that they were done making single-player only games. Which is a crying shame, they were one of the best developers of single player games.
Anyway, that trailer did look pretty good. It looked like it was made with the Source movie maker, which is a pretty interesting piece of technology, and on top of that it was pretty well done. I think they did pretty well with making sure the audience knew what was happening, where it was happening, what was going on, etc., which is a really important piece of action scenes that a lot of movies don't seem to get these days.

They made 2 episodes of Half Life and 2 portal games since their last military shooter. I'd say it's due.
I'm fricken stoked, man. At long last it looks like we'll be having another tactical competitive FPS on PC that seems to be embraced by the entire community (cs1.6, cs:s, cod). Gonna be awesome to see all those skilled players from different games in the same arena. I'll write a blog about this soon.
