I almost never make posts on the site, but wanted to put in a huge thanks to Ben for helping bring this amazing podcast to life but also the rest of his amazing GB contributions. Hope to see you sometime, somewhere in the future, Ben. You are one seriously funny dude.

@sasquatchruby:

Good tips here. Ben will never make any meaningful progress avoiding fights early on. Part of the reason he did so well in Part 0, was that he killed everything before moving on.

Any chance for an XLT on the zip up hoodie? This this the perfect video game website hoodie: minimalist and stylish. But I’m super tall and lanky tho so I end up swimming in XXL gear. Decisions...

I think we might have offered some at one point? I don't know if it makes economic sense to have them permanently in stock but I'll see if we can get some added to the pre-order shirts in the future.

Awesome, really appreciate it as a super tall guy! Thanks!

I would be really curious how they would do in WOTC. Between the more diverse mission types and chosen showing up making it impossible to use the same tactics over and over again, the meta layer being more complicated and tiredness+having to send out high level soldiers on missions forcing you to have more good soldiers I can see that run crash and burn very quickly.

My instant reaction makes me feel like it would horribly crush them. But then I remember the first episodes of this series and all the mind boggling poor decisions they made (and continue to make on occasion) which made me feel like they had absolutely no chance at finishing this game... and they continue to prove that hot take wrong.

So... who knows? I would love to see them try it. WoTC elevates the rebooted XCOM series to the next level and its a joy to play, so I'd be curious to see if they appreciate the changes away from the very narrow focus that XCOM and XCOM2 pre WoTC had with squad building.

I feel like they would probably hate the Timer mechanic found in most missions tho. But, IMHO, it makes the missions more dynamic, more exciting, and more challenging. Even tho the countdown on the screen kind of simplifies the concept of time pressure to keep things moving (and avoid the monotony of overwatch crawling), I think that kind of system could have been done in better, more subtle ways... but I still enjoy it.

Vinny has the worst logic imaginable. He basically said, "Do we want to risk losing someone by bringing up new people, we should just bring our A-Team." Umm, your A-Team is essentially maxed out right now. If you wanted to protect them for the final mission, you wouldn't use them again at all until then.

So glad that X-Com 2 WOTC fixed this kind of thinking tho. Where you can't have just an A-Team. You actually NEED to develop other people because of the tiredness mechanic. Way more fun and its a feature that blends amazingly with the Bonding system as well to create some great organic storytelling with your characters.
