1. Gin is great, Niki is correct. I’ve really enjoyed the various flavors of Uncle Val’s; the Restorative is very refreshing neat and gives a cucumber note to mixed drinks.
2. If you want to do a TTRPG revolving around a heist, Austin ran a game of Fiasco for the Beastcast years ago. It’s an awesome game that basically lets you create your own Fargo. There are D&D heist modules but honestly, D&D has too many damn rules and you’d benefit from playing something else. No idea who would be the GM though, Austin seems super busy.
@blitzfitness: Arcade Pit is coming to the GDQ Twitch channel iirc, so probably no room to return to GB. Although Smight just experienced a catastrophic computer crash so a lot of plans might yet change. It’s a shame, I really loved having the Pit on this site.
Feeling less great about the O’s this afternoon but they can still do it!
I wanted to write a longer blog post that was more or less “why do I ever play annual sports games” that was not going to be entirely negative. I scrapped it mostly because work has been an enormous pain and mental tax, and by the time I had the energy to do it, the game was too distant to say what I wanted originally. I probably won’t end up playing MLB The Show 24, so maybe that’s my answer right there.
The Roman Empire phenomenon is easy to explain: there are a lot of people who learned a tiny bit of correct information, and a lot of misinformation, about the Roman Empire, and it’s assumed this weird mythological place among many people (mostly straight white dudes). Anyone who thinks about it more than twice a year is either a) a classical historian or b) looking at the news and thinking “this is just like the Roman Empire” about everything. It’s a moth light for this nation’s laziest amateur scholars, much to the frustration of the genuine scholars.
Case in point: Zuckerberg is apparently obsessed with it, Augustus Caesar in particular. I’d rather listen to someone talk about their fantasy football team than the Roman Empire in most cases, and I haven’t played fantasy in years.
Man, this looks so good but I’m overextended as things are. Hopefully there will be a Black Friday sale and I can grab this when things cool down a bit. The Pokemon style type chart in Invasions is pretty wild.
I do love the silliness in the k/c substitutions, but when “cancel” and “konfirm” were presented right next to each other, something snapped in my brain.
