Monster Train for me. I’m loving the “Slay The Spire by way of Magic: The Gathering” feel of it, and it’s certainly the game I’ve thought about most between runs of it.

I also love Deep Rock Galactic but multiplayer time is tough to come by with a baby in the house. At least it has a single player option. Nothing else I’ve played (XCOM Chimera Squad, Doom Eternal, PSO2, KR0, others) has really done it for me like those two games have.

Great writeup! I’m a relatively new parent so time is at a premium, and I’ve been very happy to have an XCOM to play for short durations. Definitely worth buying even at the full $20.

@humanity: I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who got that impression from the QL. I have a feeling the platforming will end up making or breaking this game for me, especially the parts Brad mentioned were finnicky. There was also this weird “you’ll never get past my trap puzzle this time!” Saturday morning cartoon vibe that, while fun in a different way, is definitely not what I expected.

I’m still going to play (and likely enjoy the shit out of) it, but while the game is downloading, I feel like I have reason to be skeptical I’ll enjoy it more than Doom 2016.

It’s been a minute since I watched Mass Alex 2. Did they tackle the Arrival DLC? I thought I remembered them doing it but also heard that maybe they hadn’t yet.

Also, I can’t wait for Alex to play through the Citadel DLC. Fanservice in the absolute best way.

Crime Crew: the glitch episode is the hardest I laughed at anything all year.

They weren’t Premium, but the Let’s Sing 2019 and Heave Ho QLs were my other favorite moments.

Planet Zoo - great follow-up to Planet Coaster, and the most realistic animal renderings (especially their movement) I can remember.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - space truckin’ rules.

Observation - I played it in 3 sitdowns so it was like watching a really good horror miniseries.

Later Alligator - like the Beast crew said on the QL, it’s so tough to pull off humor and it all worked.

Griftlands - I loved Slay The Spire and Pyre, and this was like a cool mashup of the two.

Pikuniku - Mister Sunshine for character of the year. Great soundtrack too.
