Imagine if this was the cause of the video game crash. Would we ever recover? 0

A PlayStation game released in 2002 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of E.T. The Extraterrestrial, Interplanetary Mission was developed by Digital Eclipse and published by NewKidCo. The back of the cover says that E.T. is on a journey to save the universe, but the last level contradicts this by acting more like a prequel to the E.T. movie, making the plot conflicting. Given that this was a late release on the PlayStation (the PS2 was already out for more than a year by then), there real...

Why would Merlin of all people want these atrocious looking walls!? 0

A homebrew Atari 2600 maze game released by Eblivision long after the console was discontinued, this game revolves around you trying to escape the maze, using items along the way to help you out on your quest. The title screen music is very annoying, especially when compared to other music made on the system. The in-game music for when something is about to attack you is even worse as it's just a short bunch of drum beats playing over and over and over again. The graphics are hideous to lo...

Ah yes, the forefather of rushing game development. 0

This much-loved game was released on a variety of platforms, including the Atari 2600 version, which was released on an unfinished state. This review only covers this port, which is considered as one of the worst video games of all time, but unlike popular belief, only has a micro portion of the video game crash of 1983. The objective is to traverse a maze, consuming all the wafers within while avoiding four ghosts (duh!). Unlike the arcade cabinet, the layout was changed to fit on the Atari ...

Garbage 0

This karate fighting game, predating Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, was released for Atari 2600 by Ultravision in 1982 and later in 1987 by Froggo. It is infamous for being one of the worst Atari 2600 games ever made and for good reason. In 1991, Digital Press chose Karate for one of the worst Atari 2600 games ever. The graphics are ugly because the fighters look like colored shadows in underwear and their animations are choppy. The sounds are terrible as they emit a harsh grating buzz sou...

Where HE Comes Home! 0

Based on John Carpenter's 1978 horror movie of the same name, Halloween was released in October 1983 from Wizard Video Games. The graphics are fine for the 2600, but the color choice is just plain weird. The Halloween theme song is good, but the only music in the game is that. It only plays when Michael Myers appears in the same room you are. It resets whenever he enters the rooms, like the music in Deadly Towers. Michael Myers moves too slow at first, but the more points you get, he ge...

The console may have been awesome, but this game is not 0

The club you swing actually is based on the direction Mimal is facing (note that who are you playing as resembles Mimal the Elf). The way you swing the club is unresponsive. Instead of basically swinging it from any direction, it's based on where you are. The ball can easily get stuck and hard to get out due to Mimal's manueverability when it comes to swinging the club. The par is 3 yet the broken controls make it impossible to achieve....

Original SNES version: Long live the king! [pushes the NES port off a cliff] 0

For a late NES game, the graphics are terrible, and look like they were drawn in Microsoft Paint. They are pretty similar to the graphics from the NES version of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, but they look no better at all, no matter how they try to be at least decent. Not to mention, the sprites are too small. And the Elephant Graveyard level is still mostly in black and white, so they didn't even try to colorize that level. This port is watered down because it is porte...

How to waste your time. 0

This shouldn't even count as a game; it's just an electronic coloring book. There are no mini-games, and there is no animation. The SNES and Mario Paint were already out, so releasing it for the NES was a baffling choice. Very little content is in the game. There are only 16 images to color and the only tool available for coloring is the paint bucket to fill in a section with a certain color (you can't even create a custom color palette to color with, you can only choose from a very limited s...

A fitting end to such a dreadful system. 0

The last game officially released for the Jaguar is also the final game published by Atari Corporation. It was also their attempt to make a response to the 3D fighting games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter. The game is notorious for its troubled development cycle in which Atari Corporation only kept causing problems to the developer, and near the end Atari stopped paying Francois Yves Bertrand for his development, after which Mr. Bertrand decided to send them the unfinished build of the game w...

Meme run was already bad enough garbage from the start, so WHY DO WE NEED THIS? WHY IS THIS EVEN NECESSARY? More stale outdated annoying memes that don't make any sense, obnoxious audio, what else can I say? Memes have ruined our life, and a fun fact is that they are made to be funny when in reality THEY'RE NOT. THESE GAMES ARE DEFINITELY ON DRUGS! STAY FAR AWAY, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!...

Internet memes have been a waste of time, ruining our lives. But this is one of, if not, the first game starring internet memes on a Nintendo console, even if the visuals and sounds are obnoxious to look at and listen to. This game features extensive use of Internet memes; for example, the player character is a stick figure with a Trollface for a head, and the levels are made up of "Lenny faces". It feels more like a mobile game that somebody greenlit for a console release. The controls are s...

Do not talk about this game. 0

Based on the 1999 movie of the same name, which in turn was based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, this game was developed by Genuine Games and published by Vivendi Universal Games for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and mobile phones. The Dust Brothers music was reused. First rule of Fight Club is we do not play Fight Club. There was reason to make this game, as the movie came out in 1999, while this game was released five years later for the popularity of the movie. It complet...

Even worse than Wii... 0

The DS version of M&M's Kart Racing is even worse than the Wii version. The graphics are even worse, that look like an Atari Jaguar launch title instead of a DS game, even Mario Kart DS (while it hasn’t aged well) looks better than that. The tracks are so painfully long and boring, and there’s not that much challenge to it either. Characters say the same 2-3 voice-overs over and over, which gets annoying after a while; speaking of the voice-overs, all of M&M’s share the same voice overs, meaning...

Approaching the crap barrier! 0

Think about making an already bad rip-off of an already good racing game. Think it'd be unnoticeable considering that Mario Kart Wii was released after this game? Although making a racing game out of M&M is a horrible idea, It was pretty innovative. But making a racing game out of M&M's is an extremely questionable idea, since the characters in that food brand themselves, while they can have potential for a video game in general, however don't for a racing game. Therefore, it is pointles...

"Hey guys, let's license Home Alone years after it was popular and make a video game about it!" said someone from Blast! He probably got a promotion for it instead of being fired like he should have. The aim of the game is to go through five areas and dispose of the burglars while locking all the doors and windows to stop more getting in. The player is able to collect and use tools to close the entrances and traps to catch the burglars. Unless the player locks all the entrances on the level, ...

Kevin McCallister is lost in New York and must the outwit the Sticky Bandits to get back with his family. The source material grasp is very inaccurate. The first half of the movie is skipped over for some reason. Enemies make little to no sense with the game. For example, there are old ladies jumping around, trying to hit Kevin with their umbrellas. Certain enemies such as the large hotel guests and vacuum cleaners can instantly kill Kevin. Slippery physics creates more of a hassle to a...

You'll be screaming like Kevin after playing this game. 0

While at least it has the Home Alone theme at the title screen, unlike the Genesis version, along with some songs from the movie (however bitcrushed), this game doesn't really follow the movie at all. It is incredibly short for a SNES game. After four levels, the game suddenly ends. The game itself is also lacking in challenge. You can be finished with it in approximately 20 minutes. It is one of the first SNES games with digitized voices. The soundtrack is even decent but it's probably on...

Eddie Murphy in this cover warns you to not buy this game... or else. 1

This review focuses on the Amiga version. Based on the movie of the same name, it was developed and published by British company Tynesoft and released in various formats for home computers in 1990. It is also the last game that Tynesoft ever made before going bankrupt in 1990. So you play as Axel Foley as he goes through four levels, each with a different style of gameplay (the first being a side-scroller, the second being a 3D driving level, the third takes place from an overhead perspect...

Based on the Beverly Hills Cop movie franchise. Released for the PlayStation 2 only in Europe. It was developed by 3rd Dimension Creations and Atomic Planet Entertainment, and published by Blast! While it can be useful here and there, sometimes, it's downright useless. Even if you manage to get three correct speeches, in some...

This game, co-developed by Gamerholix and Gamesauce and published by Blast! Entertainment, is based on the British sketch comedy series, Little Britain, which was originally created by David Walliams and Matt Lucas. For starters, an idea of a game based on Little Britain is not a good one and it doesn't like a interesting idea at all, as there aren't that many clever game concepts that you could over the show, as it never relied on overarching stories, since the show itself was just a sketch com...

If you love your Xbox, then you must have this game! This is one of the best games on the Xbox of all time! The story is well-written. More than just combat, the game focuses on the adventure genre very well. The graphics are awesome. The entire game is a fusion of primitive art and science fiction and so much more, with massive environments, high-speeding aircraft, towering structures, flaming beacons, complex hieroglyphics, and hovering zeppelins. With original Xbox, metal, wood, smoke, water,...

Developed by Philips Fantasy Factory and published by Philips Interactive Media, Hotel Mario is one of several unofficial Nintendo games without their involvement, made for the Philips CD-i. Not what we were expecting this time round... 0

This action racing-based game is based on the James Bond license, developed by Eutechnyx in association with EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation. It is a spin-off of the James Bond video game series. Even though the title hints at a racing game, it's actually a poor hybrid of Driver and Twisted Metal. It also shows that combining action-adventure driving with vehicular combat filtered though the lens of a licensed property is almost always going to end up in disaster. ...

This game needs to be sent back in time. 0

I used to have this game a long time ago, but now I got rid of it. I destroyed it with an axe and burned it.This game's development has been troubled. John Romero, who is famous for his work at id Software in the development of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake, left id Software following the release of Quake due to creative differences with the rest of the team (briefly: he had wanted to make a medieval game, the entire rest of the team wanted to make a sci-fi game, and Quake is the result). A great start to an interesting franchise, and an underrated icon 0

The game's reception is unfortunately damaged due to Sony rushing the game two weeks before Halo 2. It was thus called the "Halokiller". How ironic considering Halo 2 also suffered from a rushed development.Anyway, this is Killzone. It's pretty slow at first as it takes awhile before the plot really gets going. It has a long and challenging campaign mode with intense action, and a decent story about Earth going to war with a subspecies of humans called the Helghast. The Helghast are designed as ...

Taking place four years after previous game, the story follows Joe Capelli who sets out on a final mission to destroy the Chimera once and for all, who have decided to eradicate humanity as a result of a cure for the virus being created. Sadly, after this, no other games were planned. There was serious consideration for a 4th game in 2013, but nothing ever came of it since.Capelli is now much more developed and interesting in this game. While he still has some anger issues, he's more relaxed and...

How the mighty have fallen...actually, yet another garbage movie-based game 0

Rebellion Developments is known for making earlier AVP games and the Sniper Elite series and published by Sierra Entertainment. But this based on the ugly and horrendous film of the same name is not one of theirs to keep. Unlike that boring movie, you can actually see the action going on in the screen!!!So, in the game, a Predator ship crashes in nearby Gunnison, Colorado in the near future of 2010. The prime example of how graphics aren't everything. In other words, style over substance. 1

Here we have yet another attempt to be a movie-video game hybrid, this time from Ready at Dawn. Only about half of the game is actual gameplay, the rest is very long cutscenes or long stretches of the player character suddenly slowing down to a snail's pace walking to a certain place. Adding to this is a forced letterbox view (aka black bars at the top and bottom of the screen) at all times; on top of that, some cutscenes stretch out over entire chapters. Half of the gameplay (which is less than...

Here we have an unreleased platform game that was supposed to be released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, as the sequel to Cheetahmen, which was one of the games featured on the infamous Action 52. It may have started while the Action 52 was still on the market, but presumably due to the poor sales and reception of Action 52, Cheetahmen II was cancelled and 1,500 cartridges were sealed in a warehouse. Oh man! Giantbomb has finally given this not-so-fantastic "game" a page. Now I can finally tear this thing to shreds. I remember a sort of parody of this, a joke game called Don't Buy This, was released on the ZX Spectrum in the mid-to-late 1980s, though it only had five games in comparison to this and Action 52. While the previous four games were well received, I don't think the same can be said for the fifth entry. This is where, unfortunately, things started to go wrong. The trailers had story elements that weren't in the final game, whose graphics, as per usual in the franchise, are very amazing. This review, while it is good, mostly only covers the unfortunate launch of the game.I like how they compiled all the games of the franchise into one compilation. The Master Chief Collection has been also recently released on PC after years of request, making it possible for games such as Halo 3 and Halo: Reach to be playable for the first time, and gave a way to play Halo 2 without having to deal with the "Vista" version which had problems due to Games with Windows Live.
