Hi, I am a dedicated gamer on most platforms both current and retro starting back with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum (with the ace grey rubber keys) through to the latest platforms with no fanboyism at all - I buy all brands! I own and collect games for most consoles, where I try to buy the best examples from their respective libraries. I'm just as happy playing the latest Grand Theft Auto as I am playing Excite Bike or Super Mario World and switch between different games & eras regularly, which means I don't tend to finish all the games I buy.
The most commitment to a game or genre I've shown is to the Final Fantasy series, starting with VII on the PS1, followed by VIII, IX, X, X2 and XII (skipping the online ones - I don't like MMOs at all!) but no further. I completed all of those fully, in some cases more than once and loved them all.
Beyond the FF series I spend a lot of time with driving games like Gran Turismo and Forza (I play both) but I really like the rally sims best via Codemasters. I've also loved the Bethesda games, in particular Oblivion and Fallout 3.
When I was growing up I had the Amiga 500... which is still one of the best systems you could have owned if for no other reason than SWOS! Although it remains the only machine and games I've ever sold, for very little... that was a mistake, but it would be difficult to hook up to a TV now? That's my excuse for selling it (and all those boxed games...)
Giantbomb (or is it Giant Bomb?) is the only site I visit for games "stuff" and in particular the videos and live shows they produce. They're great to watch, both for the current games and the old, but I'd like them to spend a bit more time with the older machines and not in the ironic fashion they currently do. Jeff bringing in a SNES or a Retron and playing Phil Lambeer's Combat Basketball or American Gladiators is not what I'm wanting to see. Also, I'd like to see them play the games in the spirit of the time and the game itself... not to keep complaining... but going through Double Dragon on the NES only using reverse elbows or using "cheats" and breezing through Super Star Wars doesn't seem right. I want to see more of an honest approach to these games and to show them in their true light.
The site is well worth the premium membership and a must-join for anyone over the age of 30 who is a seasoned video gamer! I'm ages with the crew, and it suits me to see and hear them playing the games I used to play or will be playing when the game comes out. Stand outs from the back catalogue are the "last day in the office" premium streams and in particular the day Ryan brought in a 3DO... a perfect example of why the Giant Bomb team are the best to dig in with.
Anyway, gaming-wise I'm SuperBarrio on all platforms (or a derivative of) and enjoy everything about games whether its 2d, 3d, running, jumping, driving or shooting... keep up the good work, Giant Bomb!
