When Shaft G. is on the left side of the screen he summons the Behemoth, when he's on the right side of the screen he summons the Wyvern. It seems really weird that none of them picked up on that in about an hour of fighting him. Or that there was a statue pointing at the ground that they never tried anything with.

The boss fights are tough, but pattern recognition has been the name of the game at almost every point of Castlevania so far, and I find it odd that after four games and a Simon's Quest, they haven't understood that yet.

@roy42: We literally said out loud during the stream exactly what you said here. Maybe we mumbled it and we weren't clear? But yes, we absolutely recognized that one side gets you the behemoth, and the other gets the wyvern.

Naa pattern recognition is not the name of this game at all. Think of the scythes for Death and the bats here, it's all skill predicting and dealing with those. And the werewolf is just quick reaction time and spacing.

Vinny's actually awesome at this game, Shaft G. is just nearly unbeatable until you get a feel for how to get through the barrages of bats and get to Shaft. It's all feel though. The bat acceleration is unintuitive, and when Shaft is hittable.

Too bad Drac's easy, I have a feeling we'll get a 15 minute episode next time =] But maybe they'll mess around with Maria and find the Stage 1 alt boss or something, that one's awesome.

Well they were clearly tired and have no idea how hard Dracula will be.

I remember it taking Vinny 3-4 hours to beat the first Castlevania's Dracula. Hopefully they have the next game immediately prepped if Dracula only takes 30 minutes.

I hope they play Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth next, it should be an easy transition since they're already playing on the Wii (U). It's a really cool remake of the gameboy Castlevania game, and it would be nice to see since I don't know how many "normal" Castlevanias are left.

Those skeleton dogs and big knights look just like those in Dark Souls 3. Funny.

I feel for Austin. Nothing sucks like a cold while people are watching/listening to you.

Also I am way into how many of these enemies show up in Symphony of the Night, but better looking. Specifically the large green knights.

Alternatively, I hope they skip some of the more obvious bad ones, like 64 and whatnot (or maybe their badness would still be fun to watch), but still play the PS2 games. Also, I have no idea how the tone of the series will change if we (read: ok mostly just me probably) can somehow convince them to keep going into the metroidvania Castlevanias. I'd be down for watching that, it's just that most of them are kinda easy and long.

Yep, for me as well. It's gonna be a sad day when we run out of Castlevania games.

I even hope Vinny plays Lords of Shadow 1 once more at the end. What an underappreciated gem!

Any transition besides symphony of the night would be weird considering it starts at the exact point Rondo of Blood ends including the fight.

@jacksukeru: no man, they need to play the n64 ones. Vinny needs the full CastleVania experience. Also, I played and beat both of those games more than I should have and I just need someone else to feel my pain lol

Them watching the strategy video at the end and seeing the turkey was the best moment ever.

I'm with you. They should definitely share the pain some of us already had to go trough. I also think those games are bad in a kinda hilarious way, so they'd make a perfect fit for the Beast.

Sorry I missed this live. I do hope (as I've said before) that they go back to earlier levels and find the alternate levels and bosses. Some good stuff in there.

Ha, wonder what they're gonna do for next time when they beat Drac in like 15 minutes. Maybe Vinny will try the other paths in the meantime? Good work either way—if Austin and Alex hear the *sweet jams* of Opus 13, I can die happy.

We can't talk about the full Castlevania experience without first going to Bloodlines, which is a goddamn awesome Castlevania game that has music from the composer of SOTN. I very much hope it's not overlooked and it tends to be.

This might be the secret best Castlevania game.

I recently purchased a 3DS and bought Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS. I'm having a blast with it. I hope Vinny plays it, it emulates very well due to non existent touch controls.
