Overview
Super Collapse! II is a puzzle game developed and digitally published by GameHouse for the PC and Mac in 2002.
A sequel to the 1998 "SameGame" variant Collapse! (and its premium 2001 "Super" release), Super Collapse! II features three additional game modes and some gameplay changes (including a yellow fifth color for a harder difficulty and new types of blocks).
- Collapse! Traditional is the standard mode, with rows of blocks rising from the bottom of the board at timed intervals. It is known as Collapse! Classic in the GBA version
- Collapse! Relapse has rows of blocks both rising from the bottom and descending from the top, with the game ending if two blocks of different gravity collide.
- Collapse! Strategy is a more strategic variant, where rows are no longer added at time intervals. Instead, they are added each time a move is made.
- Collapse! Puzzle changes the formula to the traditional "SameGame", with players attempting to clear an entire board of blocks without any time constraints or additional blocks. This mode includes 126 pre-made levels.
It later received a handheld port to the Game Boy Advance, developed by pixelStorm and published by Majesco in North America on March 5, 2004. It also received a release for the Xbox by Oberon Media as part of the platform's Xbox Live Arcade service. Both of these versions use a traditional cursor, while the GBA version includes a password system.
The PC/Mac version later received an update in 2005, known as Super Collapse! II Platinum, along with a unique spin-off known as Collapse! Crunch. It also received a boxed retail release at some point?
