Jeff on TWIT (a podcast) talking Xbox ONE stuff
@mellotronrules: Right. So here's where it gets subjective, because that stuff you describe feels conservative to me. I guess I hang out with people slightly to the left of that, in that my notion of the hippie leftist has a lot more of a blend of high art museum appreciation (which I can never tell if it's genuine or imposture) mixed with really hardcore underground stuff and this sort of fluffy, decaffeinated version of Marxism. I have seen that degenerate into this other thing you describe, but that's a later in life stage, when they're too married and employed to keep the raw form going.
But up-front? That seems like post-catholic conservatism from where I stand. I get this feeling that the people I know in that space are the children of well-off families that got into a modern, dynamic environment, full of travel to exotic locales, foreign friends and maybe an artistic vocation but never broke free of the secret, nagging conviction that if you're strict and disciplined and have all the ahead-of-the-curve information -but question none of it- you can just be better at life than anybody else.
Either way, we're talking in stereotypes here, but I do enjoy the opportunity for misanthropy it presents.
absolutely. it's all relative. and besides, they're all getting high off the same supply.
This podcast should be called "This Week At Tech" instead.
EDIT: Ah. I thought it was something like "tech.com". Damn, that joke works far less well now.
Wait, why should it be calle- OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Ugh, now I remember why I loathe the tech press types.
Yep, it's extremely grating, hate the silicon valley culture.
@jimbo: I was watching live but must have looked away at the time.. Jeff's reaction was perfect.
I like TWiT but their gaming coverage sucks. The nearest thing they have that is a gamer is Brushwood but he isnt that up-to-date with news and only plays AAA games.
I like Leo and really do miss those screen savers days on TechTV. It was very interesting to see Jeff on Leo's show, which I had no idea existed. I must say I really enjoyed it, awkward moments and all. I did notice Jeff got cut off a couple times, which is unfortunate as I do like hearing people talk about things one might assume is outside their familiarity.
