@purpleshyguy:

It doesn’t know when to stop digging the rabbit hole…that’s bad.

This was the biggest single negative for me. I liked the story of the game as far as it went. As you point out, you even feel a kind of sympathy for Leshy and the other Scrybes.

But if I want the "real" ending I gotta play an ARG? No thank you. Especially since the ARG has long since been solved by die-hard fans, so you're as likely as not to just accidentally find the answers via google.

My scorching hot take is that Inscryption was neat, and fun. But to be truly mind-blowing, it should have come out ten or fifteen years ago. It's like Undertale by way of Eternal Darkness.

I suspect that if the Avatar game wasn't part of a big licensed tie-in, it'd be toast as well. But as Grubb has remarked on his show, they need a hit. Even if the game turns out lousy, I'm sure Ubi is hoping it makes a profit on the strength of the movie alone.

Of course, whether or not anyone is clamoring for more Avatar movies is a whole 'nother discussion.

I tried this out yesterday and realized I had forgotten pretty much everything about how to play it. Also it just makes me so nervous sometimes! I guess there's other stuff to play.

I'm in a similar boat. I dipped back in only to remember that the reason I stopped playing Into the Breach is because I am spectacularly bad at Into The Breach.

I love it as a CONCEPT. I'm just so awful at it that playing it isn't actually any fun.

Hitsmas came early!

I mainlined the whole trilogy this spring before finally wringing every last drop of content out of it, so I'm very excited. Would very much like to see Dan and his...unique approach do a QL on this.

They still do that, most big sales have two badges to earn; one for the event and one for buying games and/or going through your daily queue. The latter uses trading cards.

Valve loves people buying and selling cards because some people put a lot of money into collecting them and each transaction is taxed.

True! I was reminded of that shortly after posting, when I paged through my discovery queue and was rewarded with two cards that I sold for eight real-life cents. I'm rich! (Actually, Valve is rich.)

Hm, now that you mention it, why *did* I complete this gimmick challenge?

I don't know either, but I did it too!

Fun fact: even if you look up the answers, the pages won't show up via the search function.

See, they showed up for me, but then clicking on them would bounce me back to the landing page for the scavenger hunt and nothing else would happen. Seems to be one of the ways the whole thing was broken for a while.

I have never noticed any sort of gimmick to these events outside of some unique art for the main page. Am I just really dumb and unobservant? The heck are you all on about?

There's been some sort of gimmicky metagame associated with the summer sale for years now. It always allows you to unlock some specific badge for your account. That's largely worthless, of course, but hey, so are achievements and people love those.

In years past there would be special trading cards that would drop as you played the game/ bought stuff on Steam during the sale. They've stopped doing that, probably because people like me would sell the cards for a few precious cents to defray the cost of the games we bought. I made a whole dollar once!

I'm not loving it!

Leaving aside the fact that the clue-hunting game was broken for part of the day it's just... kind of boring and irritating.

I'm not expecting a lot from the summer sale theme. It exists to drive users to engage with the storefront for longer periods of time, and anything else is secondary. But this is the first year I've actually resented it for wasting my time. Am I too crabby? Am I not crabby enough? Where do folks come down on this?
