@TechnoSyndrome: I'd completely agree with Dragon Ball being a wuxia. I'm having a hard time believing they kept these same themes shown there throughout all of DBZ unless the dubbing took some reeeeallll big liberties. admittingly I've only seen the dub, but rewatching the series in Kai which supposedly follows more closely to the manga and I'm still getting the sense that the show's arc is mostly comprised of villains and heroes one-upping each other with their next "new form."

I am interested in thematic differences in the dub and original writing. If you can list any off the bat I'd be pleased. Thanks!

@miceman64: You're right. That slide whistle keeps the show tone-perfect. The show is about upping power levels and becoming more and more powerful. For the most part, Faulconer's music hits that on the head. If you don't prefer it, then you don't prefer it, but it is just as fitting as the original score.

Dan is totally in the right about that Star Wars debate. In the original, what Vader says can be taken in so many different contexts. From what Vader said, he could mean "The Emperor is a dick and I want to rule things with a different style, but I'll need your help, Luke, to take the Emperor down," or he could mean "The emperor has a really dope view, but I need your help, Luke, so we can sit in his chair. I promise we will rotate so you can get a chance to sit in the chair too."

Only in the prequels is the "only two" rule made clear. And even then, its so lightly touched upon in the actual story it just feels like pointless filler and explanations.

@cavemancolton: I've known people that completely skipped the story and found the gameplay to be thrilling. I've also seen examples of people who normally don't give two craps about game stories give TLoU story a try and were won over on the concept of games driving a powerful story and characters. So yeah, I still think it has something to offer to virtually everybody.

I was secretly hoping that the Last of Us bundle would forever be the main bundle for the system, because dammit EVERYBODY needs to play that game.
