I literally hovered over an analogue pre order today because I was thinking about hand helds, but given he will be almost 1 by the time the thing actually arrives ill wait this round out. I have a healthy GB-GBA collection and a GB Micro so that will see me through just now. I just can't see me going back to Fallen Order on my pc or any of the other long form games I had started before then.

I knew them tangentially being part of a 00s Scottish band that got minor exposure. The KLF made MILLIONS from their exposure and also spoke about this.
Their burning of a million pounds was faked, which, of course it was, one of my friends was the camera man. Their music is still amazing, and they did divine a way to make the proper RAVE song for the 90s.
They released a boom about the mystical MuMu race a while ago which is amazing, but everything they do is to try and push believability to the next degree.

I do like it, and I know the site got a lot of blowback for the 2019 structure, but I also get what they said when they discussed the fact it was a rare time they were all together and didn't want to spend it tearing down each other's best experiences. Must be really soul destroying.
The one bit I always hate is when games get reduced to X and then Y in order to make them seem lesser.
I think Dream Daddy really got an unfair ride with that on 2017, because it can be so easy to reduce it to a dating SIM without thinking about what it does for games. But at the same time there were counter shots fired in that Uncharted is just "run and shoot" etc. (although Uncharted IS that.... Sorry)
I don't envy them in the structure, but I do think the 2017 interstitial moments of hitman etc were also great ideas for the end of year stuff.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, we are in last throes of prep before our baby is due (2 1/2 weeks now!) And as I've been prepping the house I've been listening to old Bombcasts for solace - I'm the guy who did two emails back to back two weeks ago based on old episodes.
I've been listening to the old Game of the Year deliberations, and just seeing how they worked their ways to different number ones (fwiw Mario Maker IS a no 1 for me!)
Having listened to a few, there's certainly some that seem wild.
2017 is the standout for me, in both the quality of games and also Dan getting PT-Barnumed in actually liking Yakuza despite his actions onscreen. It culminates in a very messy discussion and I think, unhappy ranking. It is a ride. The only other one I can think of that did so was the 2011 Skyrim / Saints Row.
I've not really gone into a lot of the other end games for GOTY but are any of the others absolute journeys?
