I've found myself disagreeing with the prevailing slant of games bloggers and reviewers over the past 3-4 years. I've decided to move on and hang out with others who like the same kind of stuff I do, who are into freely expressing themselves and allowing others to do the same, and who feel alright about speaking up about what types of games they would like to see.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even game bloggers. But game critics and bloggers should realize not everyone is going to agree with them. Some people may disagree vocally. That doesn't make them bad people.

Go ahead and encourage people to make new games that align with your world view and ideals. Fund them even. But don't be surprised when you actively coordinate and campaign to pressure artists to change their work, and then shout down critics, your customers are not going to appreciate you. They might even decide it's in their best interest to boycott and call up your advertisers on the telephone.

WAIT! Are you telling me all I have to do is tweet on this hashtag and all of this Web 2.0 social garbage gets burned to the ground!? This is wonderful. This gives me hope.

@thatpinguino: great video. I agree with most of it too. The combat system in 2 and 3 was a let down for me. It felt like a big step backwards when they turned it into a mediocre cover shooter.

That Benezia battle on insanity though. That whole chapter of ME1 was amazing. hahahah such good times.

Anyway, Giant Bomb's stance on harassment is already very clear and published right here in the forums.

Giant Bomb's stance on ethics in game journalism is the catalyst that formed Giant Bomb in the first place! They have also been extremely clear and honest over the years about advertisements and editorials.

I don't really see anything more they need to add to either topic.

@subyman: in my case it was a few years ago and didn't have anything to do with video games. it's crazy what some unhinged people lose their minds over. you really can't predict it, just deal with it as it comes.

There is a pretty wide range. I've received a few death threats before. They were credible, specific, and looked Really real to me. Enough that I called the police. So yeah, if they received something very specific about time, place, method and with enough details it can be very unsettling. That much alone is enough for an assault charge here in the USA.
