Good news, looks like LG finally pushed an update to older tv models to accept the cert gb uses. Chewiebomb is working on my TV again without any changes on my side.

@armoredmachine: In it's current state, the app is coded to work specifically with LG smart smart TVs (uses some LG libraries & control key codes).

The source code is semi-open if you'd like to review it, let me know.

I've given up development on it due to LG's horrible support for "old" devices.

Nothing, sorry folks. I can't do anything without LG's support and they have been quiet. Only other measure I can see is routing ChewieBomb's requests to some inbetween server which has an SSL cert recognized by LG, but I really cannot put that much time into this project anymore.

Edit - finally got a response from LG support. Looks like we will get a firmware update 'eventually' which will automatically fix ChewieBomb once your TV is updated.

ISRG Root X1 in the previous versions of the webOS TV in a future security update.

But we cannot confirm when it will be ready as we don\'t have any fixed schedule for it now

Hi,

I am the developer of ChewieBomb, the native WebOS App for LG Smart TVs. Last month I was made aware that the app wasn't working with certain models of TVs. After contacting LG Support, the cause seems to be related with GB using Let's Encrypt for their certificate signing which is incompatible with LG Smart TVs using WebOS 4.0 or earlier ( Year 2019 ).

I've reached out to LG Support to see if they will push an update to accept Let's Encrypt, but wanted to also reach out here to see if anything can be done if LG won't agree to push a fix.

Did some poking around, I'm seeing the ajax API requests to GB return with error, ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE. This is impacting older model TVs below WebOS 5 (older than 2020). WebOS 5 TVs and greater do not have this issue (> 2020). I'm checking with LG support to see if they can shed any insight to why older models might be getting cert errors. This might take a while to fix.

Hi, I'm the developer of Chewiebomb. I'll take a look this week to see what is going on.
