    Beetoms are a species of parasitic creatures in Super Metroid. They are fast moving and leap at Samus in an attempt to latch onto her.

    Overview

    Beetoms are grasshopper-like creatures with a giant green eye. When they detect Samus, they will attempt to latch onto her by leaping at her. If they successfully latch onto her, there eye will turn red and Samus' energy will begin to drain rapidly. The only way to unattach it is to either exit the current room or curl up into Morph Ball form and use Morph Ball Bombs to destroy it. Besides using Morph Ball Bombs, Beetoms can also be defeated with Missiles, Super Missiles, or by running through them with the Speed Booster. Beam weapons do not harm them, however the Ice Beam will freeze them in there tracks.
