Overview
Crono's mom, known as Gina in the Japanese version of Chrono Trigger, is a very minor character in the game. She lives in Crono's house in Truce, where she spends most of her time. Crono's father is never seen, and it isn't clear whether he is dead, separated from her, or merely a deadbeat, although Crono's mom does take care of the family cat. Bringing various party members to Crono's mom will yield a variety of (sometimes) humorous conversations. She otherwise plays little importance in the overall plot.
Crono's mom is involved in one of the endings in a humorous manner, in which she accidentally falls into a time gate at the end of the game. This causes Crono, Lucca, and Marle to jump into the Epoch and search for her through time.
Crono's mother speaks the first line in the game: "Good morning, Crono!". Which has become a long standing famous quote for the game. The line was featured on a black background (the same way it appears in game) in ads for the DS rerelease in 2008.
Crono's mom appears as an illusion in Magus' castle. She scolds Crono for disappearing randomly, which is odd considering it is possible to go from the beginning to the end of the game without ever visiting her. Her uncharacteristic anger is grounds for suspicion.
