I have played and beat most of the Resident Evil games made and Resident Evil 1 is deffinitely my favorite. The controls were never all that great so I was very happy when they updated them for the Gamecube remakes. So the remake of Resident Evil 1 is the best.
What Resident Evil game is your favorite?
Resident Evil
Capcom's Resident Evil (or Biohazard in Japan) series continues to draw in players with its stories of hideous mutations and the pharmaceutical company Umbrella Inc. It is Capcom's best-selling franchise in terms of software sales.
Which Resident Evil game is your favorite?
RE 4 is my favorite, but of the older ones I have to go with 3 because that was the first one I ever played.
I have played each game when it was released, and my favourite is Resident Evil 4. I love survival horror, but Resident Evil is just cheap with its scares and difficulty. RE4, while simply a good action game, at least is honest.
I admire the style of the REmake, though. Looking at this game, it hurts even more that developers have abandoned the concept of preprendered backgrounds. To think of a JRPG with prerendered backgrounds brought to life by modern technology! *sigh*
2 holds a special place for me. I played both characters. I always wanted to play the others but time never let me finish. I even got 1 again when it came out on Gamecube. Maybe someday when I'm an old man with a lot of time I can sit around and play them all. By then games will be a whole different thing though.
Resident Evil 3 is the best one for sure. I'm trying to think of words that can express my love for it... but I can't. :P
Resident Evil 2 and then 1 (Directors Cut, not REmake) come afterwards. I'm probably in the minoritity here, but I dislike 4 a LOT. Yeah the controls were WAY better, but it wasn't even a horror game, it was just a shooter with infinite "zombies". And escorting Ashley was just a pain. I guess I had fun with it, but I've never really thought of it as a Resident Evil game. (probably because of it emphasis on killing instead of atmosphere and survival)
RE4. Though, I must admit that survival horror games scare the heck out of me. RE4 doesn't have the same level of scariness as the others, mainly because you're much more capable of fighting off bad guys and you're armed with lots of awesome weapons. Also, it doesn't rely on fixed camera angles to keep you guessing as to what may be lurking just out of sight.
"Even though I've never finished a RE game I'll have to go with #2. I enjoyed what I played of that game and would like to go back someday and try to finish it. I would have said RE4, but escort that ho around seriously brought down that game for me."LEON!!!!
"Kush said:I love me some Leon...I wish he was in RE5 just because I llke his character so much :P ...it's one of the reasons I'm really looking forward to the CGI film."Even though I've never finished a RE game I'll have to go with #2. Did anyone unlock the Ashley bottlecap in RE4? If you keep pressing the button you can have immense fun with her shouting "LEON!"?
Wesker is totally the best character though.
Hard to tell exactly, but I believe the Resident Evil Remake for GameCube still stands as the best RE.
RE0 and RE2 are close calls, and RE3 too. RE4 is also amazing and pretty addictive. Also the portable version of the first RE for the DS is great to have it anywhere you go.
RE2 is my favorite, but closely followed by Code Veronica. Code Veronica is probably the better game, but I have a lot of nostalgia associated with RE2.
I didn't like where they took the series with RE4. The best thing about the older games is that you get into situations where you're low on ammo, almost out of health, haven't saved your game in an hour, and you're pressing on into unknown territory where a zombie can jump out of anywhere - very tense and exciting. RE4 felt like a sort of generic action shooter, but with clunky controls, and it didn't even have "real" zombies.
The remake for Gamecube. Resident Evil was my favorite series till RE4 came out. I still like RE4 and even RE5 but it killed the series for me when it went from survival horror to a lacking third person shooter
