Overview
Jetscout: Mystery of the Valunians is an action game released on Steam and Itch.io that has the player, as novice member of the Jetscouts Muun, visit planets and slowly make their way down past their many hazards and claustrophobic tunnels to reach the bottom, where an object of value can be found. Soon, Muun encounters a sapient insectoid race calling themselves the Valunians who need Muun's help in recovering a group of key gemstones to open the way to their home base.
The game uses momentum and gravity for movement, adjusting Muun's jetpack power to maneuver around the environment. The jetpack uses fuel which must be replenished at checkpoints, and certain difficulty modes provide Muun with some shielding to protect them from one or more collisions: harder modes remove this shield. Each planet has its own unique hazards and challenges including hostile wildlife, haywire turrets, crumbling stalactites, or areas of extreme heat.
