From the PS Blog - This is something that comes up almost annually and almost annually someone on this forum will do the stupid thing and destroy their body to try and win. Who will rise up to the challenge this time?

From September 15 through October 19, you can pick up a specially-marked $5 Taco Bell Big Box at participating Taco Bell locations and text in the code on the box for a chance to win. One winner will be selected approximately every 15 minutes!

The prize pack includes one PlayStation VR headset, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, a PlayStation Camera, and a $40 PlayStation Store credit that can be used toward the game of your choice. Winners will begin receiving their prize packs in early October.

Looking at the rules here, they're set up to give away over 3000 units of PS VR - which is a lot more than I thought they would. If nothing else, this is probably a good idea for Sony to get the word out that PS VR exists and you should all go buy Taco Bell and take a trip to the Best Buy or something to check them out.

I can't wait for someone's Taco Bell-induced misery to be documented on the forums again this year!

Statistically speaking, I think I should have won one of these Playstation giveaways long ago.

From a purely Taco Bell consumption perspective, that's actually a big box that wouldn't be that sickening to eat repeatedly. Quesarito, Doritos Locos Taco, and the regular taco are all solid. No awful burrito supreme this time around is a huge plus. I'm not much on VR, but who knows, maybe this will be the one I actually win.

Definitely gonna give it a go a few times, but not everyday like some madman. Hope someone will assume the mantle and document it. Live Mas

I think Dan is being far more rational about his intake of fast food, he does not say so...he knows it fun....but I think he only binges on TB for effect now. I'm sure his fiancee keep him in line.

@atwa: @eddiephlash: Yeah it doesn't come with a PS4. I'm sure Sony have crunched the numbers and have run enough promotions with Taco Bell at this point to decide this is worth it. Worst thing that happens if someone wins a PSVR without owning a PS4 - they flip it. Best thing that happens, they go buy a new PS4.

The taco from Taco Bell looks surprisingly good. Always heard it was just throw-away non-taco taco.

With the whole, "there's a winner every 15 minutes" thing, I've heard that entering your codes at like 4 in the morning when there's less traffic is a way to have better chances.

Someone should probably binge this stuff and document their experience again this year. The torch has to be carried on.

They're doing a promotion in NYC today and tomorrow, though it's from 11 AM to 5 PM, you know when working people can come eat fast food and play VR games.

In all fairness, I did win the early PS4 from one of these contests after trying three times so I have a moral and business obligation to support Taco Bell during this next month. Not paying for that original PS4 was a legitimate argument I made to myself for purchasing the PS4 Pro come November.

What should also be brought up is that it's a new Cheddar Habanero Quesarito that is included in the box alongside the DL Taco and the Crunchy taco. Sounds like it could be good, but where's the volcano version? Heck, where's the Volcano Taco?

Seems weird to have only the VR package as the prize, but Taco Bell probably assumes those who'll buy it already have a PS4.

This is a great excuse for me to get some more Taco Bell

Ugh ive gotten 3 of these boxes.

The first was right after i got off work at like 10 and it wasn't until i got home that i realized the code is actually on the box (they gave me my food in a bag). I called them and a manager who was clearly trying to get me off the phone told me to come back and they would give me a code. I'm not going to drive all the way back and she refused to give me a code over the phone even though I had my receipt and was able to prove i had just been there.

The next night i once again decided to try. Once again the food came out in a bag.

I said "Oh your not going to give it to me in a box?"

The window lady said, "What box?"

I responded, "You know, for the contest."

She look confused, "uhh hold on." She retreated back into the building. I watched her walk over to the food prep area and exasperatedly flail her arms around. A bunch of the employees peeked over at me. After about a minute, a different girl poked her head out.

"Yeah so we dont have the boxes right now."

"For the contest that just started?" I asked

"Oh uh hold on." She said back.

I was about to give up and just go home when an employee came from the back with a stack of the boxes. "Here they are!" he exclaimed.

I got home and the code was not a winner.

After all that Ive tried one more time. The code was printed weird on the box and I couldn't tell if they were 8's or B's. It didnt matter though, since the phone system decided to ignore me and never sent me back confirmation if my code worked.

I might try again. I really want a PSVR and I really dont want to pay for it.

So I haven't really read much on this thread thus far so I don't know if it's been posted, but don't forget that, "no purchase necessary," is a thing! Apparently you need to wait until October 5th to get a code the free way, but that's totally a way you can do things if you're not a big TB fan (and if you're not, you're a liar).

@tastycakesmcg33: Dan is the only person on the planet that can claim to be a "Taco Bell Fan" and I actually believe it. Sure, others out there may have a degree of tolerance for their food that could almost resemble enjoyment, but that's as far as I am willing to believe.

I eat taco bell at least once a week. I'm going to win that PSVR.
