NEW Favourite Fighting games (post SFIV revival)
My favourites from the recent upsurge in fighting game popularity since SFIV was released.

People see this as just an update to SFIV but if like me you played a lot of the original you will see that the improved online modes (replay channel etc), gameplay tweaks and additional characters make this a great update. With the release of Arcade Edition and the free v2012 update this game still feels fresh and I regularly play and learn something new everytime I do!

I didn't play this game when it originally came out in 1999 but the release of 3rd Strike Online allowed me to get into this game. It plays so well and still looks really good, the parrying system is great and the overall feel of the game is spot on.
It's a real shame that more people don't play this game online - and I don't mean people who have been playing since it came out over 10 years ago and kick my ass, there are lots of those - but the learning curve of this game is so steep that it really puts people off.

In terms of competitive play against other people I don't like the way MK plays but the single player of this game is quite simply the best any fighting game has ever done it.

I have tried to get into this game but it just isn't for me. However I can still appreciate it for what it is - crazy and insane - and I really enjoy watching top players go at it.
