I really need a lot of flavored creamer at least to make it palatable. However I would prefer to get into black coffee instead. Any suggestions on how? Just keep making it and drinking it until I get accustomed to it I guess?
I don’t have much to add to the conversation, I did not manage to finish it. I got to around mission 13 or so.
It was fun and got better as you unlocked more abilities. I never got used to the flashing red “dodge” attacks but the parry attacks felt good. There were definitely a few bottlenecks that were due to difficulty spikes. The encounters were either very easy or extremely difficult.
The levels themselves were also all over the place, especially in length. Some levels would be just a couple of minutes long, others approaching thirty minutes, at least if you die a few times.
Finally, I agree the vehicle levels are kind of just filler.
Overall it’s…fine. Turtles is a much better beat ‘em up. Looking forward to that next time!
This doesn’t really bother or surprise me too much since Sony already made this change. However, I’m really surprised they will test the market for this with Skull and Bones. Is anyone super excited for this game? Or perhaps it is the parent company throwing the devs a bone and being able to use that as an excuse if it doesn’t live up to the investors expectations.
So I did end up finishing it. I played the entire thing through XCloud which worked surprisingly well. I think playing on my phone made the visual style less distracting because I had no problems with it. I did often forget there was more to the game than dialog choices when starting back each day and was often caught off guard by the first QTE, lol. I agree it would have been better without them.
I agree with most reviews that say the story loses some steam once the motel sections are over. The final chapter also felt very rushed. But overall I really enjoyed the story and performances.
The only narrative aspect that didn’t really work for me was just how traumatized Zoe was. Her parents survived and stayed together after the motel, Jay was relatively nice to her IMO in the motel and yet she is tormented by the memories of that night. It didn’t really make much sense. But that’s how some of these stories just go. It had to end in the cabin in Canada.
Overall I enjoyed it. I wish more games had custom touch controls for XCloud because the virtual analog sticks most games do, I’m not a big fan of. I considered downloading it to my console to play at home but apparently it’s like 30-40 gigs and I didn’t feel like making the space when I was nearly done, haha.
I think that’s an interesting idea. If they had made this into a Netflix thing like Bandersnatch it might have made a bigger impact. It is very long though.
So I just reached the end of Chapter Two and I am enjoying it quite a bit so far. It isn’t quite up to the quality of an Until Dawn for example but it’s better than some of the other “choose your own adventures” like The Late Shift or Erica.
The biggest thing I want to mention at this point though is that I’m playing exclusively streaming on my phone. It is actually really impressive, and I’m only on an LTE connection so far. Most of the games I’ve tried to play with touch controls use a virtual control pad but this one has actual touch screen controls and swiping motions for all the inputs.
It actually makes me wonder how the inputs are on console. Pressing directions on the analog stick and button mashing I’m guessing?
Anyway, I plan to keep at it, especially since I’m roughly a third through it already. I’m really curious just how branching the paths are.
