Finished the game yesterday. I warmed up to it a lot more half way through as it opened up more side content, and abilities. I was kinda on the fence between a 7-8. Id go with scoring an 8. Its not Batman, but good first outing for Insomniac.
Yea this looks just awful. If for nothing else then for the stilted slow running. Its got that old ass first gen 3d game thing going. There is like a treadmill effect to slow you down.
IDK... Not blown away by this. Was never much of a fan of the original, but I can see why people love the game. This just doesnt scream from the ground up remaster/remake like it should for such a iconic game. This gives me the impression that they just modified/updated the original engine which kinda limted what they could do. Everything is just kinda muted colors that dont give me a current gen vibe. Some more color contrast would have looked nice. Some better lighting, and menacing black clouds in the distance for stormy areas would have looked really nice in HDR as well.
@john1912: I'm getting the same vibe from this one as I did the last one: kind of plain-looking overall, but with a crazy amount of detail on the orcs and baddies.
I looked it up, and they are using a engine built in 2005 lol. I mean the game doesnt look horrible, but its not great. All the buildings, climbable ledges are way to flat as well which really shows the engines age.
Boy graphics still are not great. Last one had the same thing, where is looks like they used an old open world engine to save time.. Stone walls/ground with wet night textures looks good, but anything fallout outside of that is kinda meh....Far as the world graphics.
