Favorite Wrestlers of 2022

2022 was the weirdest year in wrestling that I can remember.

1. Roman Reigns

Acknowledge your Tribal Chief. Acknowledge the Bloodline.

It's been crazy seeing this guy's trajectory over the years. Big dawg went from the one person people hated seeing to being the most believable and engaging character in wrestling right now. Steve Austin and John Cena level mega-stars don't exist anymore, but Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch come pretty close.

2. Jon Moxley

Seeing this guy overcome past demons to become one of the shining stars of 2022 has been a treat. Moxley is a prime example of accountability and professionalism. His current co-workers should take notes.

3. Seth Rollins

Just noticed my top 3 favorites this year are the former Shield members, it's almost like they're pretty good at this whole wrestling thing.

Seth is probably the most consistent wrestler right now. The guy will get it done every time, and put on a fuckin' show doing it.

4. MJF

A lot of modern wrestlers appear to be somewhat afraid of being truly hated which in fairness is human nature.

But then there's this guy. Whether it be hitting on your partner in front of you or cussing out a child MJF is the blueprint of true heel wrestler. I am looking forward to his current AEW Championship reign of terror.

Roman Reigns is currently Number 1 on this list, there's a good chance MJF might be Number 1 on next year's list.

5. Sami Zayn & Jey Uso

One could easily say that 2022 was the year of The Bloodline, especially Sami Zayn and Main Event Jey Uso.

Seeing their adversity turn into brotherhood over the year has been incredible. It's hard to think of anyone that's more beloved than Sami Zayn right now, and here's hoping Jey Uso gets that main event push that he's proved he's capable of.

6. Eddie Kingston

Talk about a real one. Might be the realest one in all of wrestling right now. Brutally honest and loud mouthed but also able to back it up. Eddie continues to be a gem in and out of the ring.

7. Becky Lynch

Had she not been out with injury for a good chunk of the year she would have likely been higher on this list. Nevertheless, The Man is back, and she continues to be The Man. Similar to Sami Zayn and Eddie Kingston, Becky Lynch is one of the most genuinely beloved people in wrestling; and much like Roman Reigns, she is also the closest thing to a bygone eras mega-star.

8. Tomohiro Ishii

The stone pitbull Tomohiro Ishii continues to quietly be the best wrestler in the world. No one hits harder, and moves with such intensity and purpose. He doesn't say much and he doesn't need to, he lets his ring work do all the talking for him.

9. Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair is a star continuing to rise. Out of everyone on this list, her future is the brightest.

10. "Hangman" Adam Page

This placement is interesting for me because I spent years being indifferent on Hangman and now I'm probably his biggest advocate. He could be AEW's Roman Reigns level top guy, and I can only hope that possibility becomes reality.
