My Favorite Obscure Characters

The less known a character is, the more I like them. I always love to stand up for the characters that don't get the respect they deserve, so here's my list of the characters I want to see more of.

List items

  • A great optional boss in the remake of Skies of Arcadia who revealed several things about Vyse's history. I also have to put her at the top because she has one of my favorite designs of any character in a game as her hair, boots, and overall look resembles the scythe she uses as a weapon. Of course I might be biased simply because I want a Skies sequel so bad.

  • Am I the only one who wants to see a battle between Sean (Ken's student) and Sakura (Ryu's student). Seriously, it seems so obvious. The point I'm trying to make is that by giving Ken his own student it flushed out his character and let him grow, but also Sean provided some great laughs and was a very fun character to fight as in the Street Fighter series.

  • One of my favorite characters in Phoenix Wright, her little freak outs are always fun and you can't help but feel bad for her with all the unfortunate situations she keeps getting into.

  • I could pretty much have put anyone on this list from Rival Schools as one of my favorite obscure characters since none of them get the respect they deserve. However, Ran I always had a soft spot for, I always love upbeat and energetic characters, and the idea of a journalist in a fighting game seemed so new and fresh.

  • Normally I don't enjoy characters with very basic designs, but Twelve somehow made this look work as this shape shifting robot provided many a challenges to anyone who played Street Fighter 3. Also I give him major props for actually talking in binary, very original.

  • I never feel like the gym leaders in pokemon games get the respect they deserve when it comes to remembering them. It seems like after the game comes out people talk about them for a while, then nothing. That's why I put my favorite gym leader on here, the electric emo boy Volkner. He's as cool and laid back as a rock star and got the juice to put on a show.

  • Razputin is from what should have been one of the most memorable games of all time, Psychonauts, but sadly so few people have even heard of it. He was hilarious, had a strong background, great voice acting, and his powers were some of the most unique I've ever seen in a game. What other hero actually goes into a person's mind to solve their problems and see their own distorted mind?
