@av_gamer:I think A Game of Thrones came out in '96 while Final Fantasy Tactics came out in '97, but I get what you are saying.

I played the demo and at the beginning was not feeling it. Between the eikon fight right off the jump that was visually dark, felt like an homage to Gandalf fighting the Balrog a little tooooo much, and was pulling a bit too much from the Sony prestige playbook of big set-piece that you have control over but you largely watch rather than play, it doesn't start strong. And then you get a bunch of people saying Proper Nouns in some admittedly beautiful cut scenes, with some more holding forward to walk before it feels like the game even starts. I know this all doesn't take long, and there is some table-setting here, but part of me wonders if they thought this was the exciting stuff to get people into the game before they go back for the tutorial and it had the opposite effect on me, because once you go back to the tutorial I found myself enjoying it much more.

I think the combat works well (the controls take some getting used to, I tried switching to the other scheme and it helped with some things, but the quickly hit fire after every physical hit thing is hard to do with most button combinations, wondering if that gets easier, or if that's just damage that will be missed on my play through unless I get some controller for my PS5 with back buttons) the early story is good enough that I am curious to see more. It certainly isn't hiding it's influences, which makes it a bit predictable (at least in the political intrigue part, maybe less the magical boy part), but it still seems to be done well enough. I dropped off FFVII Remake though over half-way through, so maybe I'll just get burnt again. Who knows!

Yeah, I guess I'm an Atlus mark too. This is frustrating, because it feels like an easy win. They bought themselves time to do a full remake of the complete P3PFES experience by putting out P3P so recently, and instead are just going to take all my money. And it is money they'll get I guess.

@bisonhero: I mean, the Season Pass does give some cosmetic skins for cards, plus the currency and what is essentially a guaranteed card that, while it will eventually join the rotation of unlockable cards, doesn't for a few seasons iirc. I'm not saying that invalidates anything you said, but you can kinda have both if you aren't picky on which card you are getting a new version of.

Also someone did do the math here: https://youtu.be/KY-Kbf1gzfs

Looks like about 6+ months to unlock everything if you are F2P and not getting above Rank 60 each season. Obviously more stuff is coming out, so this will only get longer, but this video has a decent breakdown if you are curious just how long the treadmill is at the outset.

@dareitus: So I've seen this thrown around a bit, but I don't believe holding in Pool 1/2 does much. There is a hidden MMR system where you will start to fight people in higher pools if you match whatever that metric is, so you'll still end up going against people with more options.

If you want to wait at the top end of Pool 2 for a while, that's totally fine, and it might slightly decrease what your opponents have, but you will at some point certainly start matching against people in Pool 3. I was seeing Pool 3 cards before I hit the end of Pool 2, and the videos I saw floating around Youtube also seemed to have been debunked. Again a lot of this info on all sides is just anecdotal so ymmv. Just follow the "What would I have more fun doing" rule. Saving and waiting to get a few cards, or just having that constant drip of Collection Level ups.

@zombiepie: As people have said above, the quick boosts are a bad value. I was using them at the beginning, but you are basically wasting credits. And, unless you want some cool looking variants or whatever, as long as you are playing the game and aren't capping out on resources or missions, Gold should be used for missions (just a better value than getting credits straight up) and credits should be used to upgrade the cards you have boosters for (which you get by using them in your decks). As you probably already know, the best value is the first upgrade, as it is 1 Collection Level for 25 credits, after that it stays constant at 1 CL for 50 Credits I believe.

This game is amazing.

My tip: if you think you are taking the right route, but your times are so much slower, think about your line, like a racing game. Taking the shortest path between two points sounds obvious, but I find myself having to think specifically about taking the inside track to really cut those partial seconds.

@wastrel: You are an inspiration, I should stop getting stuck playing levels over and over and just play through this very fun game!

@dsouvannarath: You get one after you finish the first "Mission" I think (which is the first set of 10 levels). Once you get to the hub, you can replay levels.
