@mvhvtmv: I don't know why you think the relevancy of console is irrelevant when it's literally the matter. Have a Wii U? Buy Mario Maker for the Wii U. Only have a 3DS? Buy that version. Preferring someone who's never play the game to simply miss out because "we need to send a message! fight with our money!" is as ridiculuous as developers saying they've chosen to make a game unmoddable because of "techncal limitations and the player wouldn't be capable of understanding them." Both arguements are made from the position of "I have what I want and you shouldn't have what you want."

I agree with you that if the game had the missing features, it would be objectively better but the arguement being made and has long been made by Giant Bomb and "the majority," as you've poited out is that if it isn't the exact game I hoped for with all of the features I've envisioned, then it should'nt exist. It's a really narrow visioned arguement that doesn't consider the developer point of view nor the market yhat would buy such a product. This game specifically targets 3DS only owners who would otherwise never be able to experience what Mario Maker is.

Giant Bomb routinely picks favorites and lambasts anything that doesn't fit their cone of visoon. They did the same thing with Fallout 4 last year which is interesting given how similar Skyrim was in terms of issues yet that was met with great reception. The staff chooses to shape opinions that are immediately reinforced by users here giving the perception of "majority" as you references earlier. The truth is there is never a way to know on this site and the mass media at large to know what the majority thinks, a term I find foolish given how easy it is to shape public opinon. Jeff, Brad, and Alex were all once opinion givers and storytellers. Opinion wasn't shaped, it was clarified. At some point between then and now they decided to sit back and take the easy road of judging everything without exploring wether what they were saying is true, because they know the masses will eat everything they say right up, generally speaking.

The only justfication I can think as to why those features are not included is because this was pushed out to make it a reality and that all development is honed on the Switch.

@chicken008: I should have expected more from Nintendo for a game I only half expected to ever come out when Mario Maker was released for the Wii U? That's a nice fauxality you live in. I too would like to enjoy Kotor 3, a good Tony Hawk's Pro Skater sequel, and a 3DS Mario Maker with all of the features from the Wii U and then some. Alas, I live in this reality and I'm very thankful and grateful for everything I have. I'm thoroughly enjoying Mario Maker 3DS.

And yeah, Nintendo does a lot of things right, more than any publishers I know put together. Some of the greatest games of all time have come from Nintendo and they've survived. Yet somehow Bioware has managed to destroy their success. Somehow EA has destroyed their success, along with developers they bought (I'm looking at you Pandemic). LucasArts is dead and we have no hope of ever receivig a good Star Wars game ever again. We can probably forget about Splinter Cell, Need for Speed, and Burnout for that matter. The difference between Nintendo and these others is Nintendo takes greater risks, the hallmark of most long lasting business and empires. Nintendo has gotten a lot right. Too bad others have not or we might be enjoying some fantastic sequels and new IPs. We'll never know.

@mvhvtmv: I don't know what you mean by that. This is definitely to do with 3DS vs Wii U and after you wrote it isn't, then proceed to compare the two versions. Nintendo has long done things differently in terms of user interfaces, hardware, and games. Who knows what exactly they're thinking, maybe they don't want to conform to a perceived normality.

My guess, and it's only that, is that they released this as one last hurrah for the 3DS before the switch comes out which will almost undeniably receive a Mario Maker at some point. 3DS Mario Maker is a fine game and a great alternative for those who do not own a Wii U to be able experience what Mario Maker was about.

I'm really sick of seeing criticism towards this game. Yeah, congratulations you have a Wii U and you're better than everyone. For the rest of us with only a 3DS, at least they gave us something. I am really enjoying it!

I know Brad says he fixed the audio but it's still not synced for me, and I started watching after the fact.

In that case I probably will buy a Wii U now anyway. Hopefully they'll come down in price before then.
