Sleeping Dogs is a Hong Kong action flick. Shenmue is a story about some kid who got sad when his dad got kung-fucked.

I played Shenmue 1 or 2 at a friends house years ago. It seemed great and unique. I'm hyped.

People who keep comparing Shenmue and sleepy dogs are just not right in any way. Sleepy dogs is like GTA... Yakuza is sorta like Shenmue but not really. Shenmue is the only thing thats really like Shenmue at all.

Yakuza too looks like Sleeping Dogs but with more bullshit in it. Nah, I think Sleeping Dogs is the one to play. And Shenmue doesn't even sound legit when you say it out loud.

Yakuza and Sleeping Dogs are two totally different game. Yakuza is more of an action brawler sorta like a new age beat'em up like God Hand. Sleeping Dogs combat is something you'd see from the Batman / Shadows of Mordor realm. I wonder if you made a connection between the two because the protangonist in Sleeping Dogs and Shenmue sorta look the same? If so I can kinda see the point but sorry Sleeping Dogs is no way a spiritual successor to Shenmue. Both Sleepings Dogs and Yakuza are great games btw, either one would do. Also both have alot of good dumb side stuff to do.

I dislike Shenmue heavily, but that's one of the weirdest and less accurate statements I've read this week.

Ryan and Jeff played it on a video feature somewhere on the site if I remember correctly, should check that out.

I played Sleeping dogs and all the DLCs, its a good game but it didnt bring any closure to the 15year long cliffhanger that is Shenmue 2. Sure Sleeping dogs is a modern day Shenmue game but it aint Shenmue.
