15 hours in to cyberpunk, playing since launch, haven't had any issues (no bugs or glitches, other than the occasional weapon that gets stuck in a wall or under a body). Running 1080p @ ultra, looks and plays beautifully.

I don't disagree with anyone's opinion here, they have their experience, and I have mine. It's just unfortunate (yet seems somewhat justified) that this game is getting so much negativity online, even though it's not actually broken for everyone. Obviously it should not be broken for anyone.

The major upcoming patches don't seem like an issue, The Witcher 3 had a similar patch schedule upon release. You can only test so much pre-release, and after 8+ years in development, you need to either get it out, or never release it. I'm glad they released it.

Disclaimer: I can't speak to the story as much, aside from what I've played through thus far, though the voice-over seems fine.

Edit: I agree with Jeff, we ARE all idiots online. I love you all.

While I do love Sunshine myself, it was still impossible to disagree with ANYTHING Jeff had to say regarding the discourse around reviews online. At this point, I have just accepted the fact that this is just an internet thing and it will never really change. It seems to just keep getting worse over the years.

Dude, the stuff Jeff ( ben / brad/abby too) gets into is super important in a way that I feel like it should A: Default to the giant bomb clips channel so it can be circulated easily, as this entire podcast was sage about the way it has worked, how it isn't working, and then speaking to the idiocy of gaming culture in general these days witih soapbox professional gamers as the other evil. This stupid shit should probably stop, one would think.

Honestly i have had a pretty damn alright and bug-free fun time with cyberpunk, the wait, with self imposed maketing blackout rules, went in with excitement but almost no idea what the game was to that point, and 90 hours in I'm still enjoying it. I hope they do get there, and even if it is a AAAA B-game, the time I've had with it is very unlike the experience Jeff's had. Dunno beyond that, but hopefully shit changes for the better, for everyone

*edit also, I was in the middle of a painting when Abby hit with the Kotaku line about Chess 2: The Sequel, and I just dropped the marker laughing, that is the dumbest fucking thing i have ever heard, and love it. The timing and delivery on that was perfect, still laughing a little. Nobody appreciated how funny that is enough, lol. And then Jan's reaction to Brad's Fenix Rising mention, and jeff's reaction...

this was a golden podcast, and from Rising to 2077, we can all like the busted shit we like, (if we want to), we can leave metacritic behind.

@savutano: The vitriolic hate cd project is getting is the same hate i saw a mile away back for Kojima. All the F-Konami circle J, and me scratching my head like, you guys do know Kojima is an artz type (hell stealth games are almost never mass appeal cause the realistic stealth is slow, hard to market to a crowd whos anxious to get into action) whose games appeal to a very specific demo and is not meant to be mainstream. You let him go crazy and don't reign it in for execs and you'll get non mass appeal stuff at a huge budget leading to let down for general crowds. CD was loved cause at the time they did anti-loot and dlc ripoffs, but really all they were doing was making games how people use to make them. Now the goggles are off and people are pissed that their favorite director who only made one movie they like didn't make a movie in a different genre exact to their unspecified taste. Basically, the game is fine, good even, glitches overlooked but any bit of problems will be exaggerated cause the internet circle has spoken and they want blood. Ignore that covid hit and people genuinely seemed to be trying their best everywhere to be understanding...not when it comes to entertainment thou...its either perfect or trash.

It's strange but I've started viewing Cyberpunk as an early access game I'm excited to play when it finally releases full version 18 months from now. Too bad I already bought on PS4. Hopefully I can refund it.

I just finished Cyberpunk. I did not hate the ending.

While there is a lot of pointless filler side missions, anything given to you by an actual character is usually pretty fun and interesting. I like some of the NPCs a lot, and it's nice to hang out with them.

The game absofuckinglutely needs some patches though, and given the human cost of making the game the amount of fun it contains doesn't override that. CDPR burned basically all their goodwill to make a just ok game, and that's pretty depressing.

I recently watched House Party (and three sequels, stay away from them, even 2 wasn’t great) for the first time in almost 30 years, and it was surprising how much they played the police abuse of a number of black guys for laughs. It was really harsh, stronger than I remembered, and surprising (to a white guy from Iowa) for a movie from 1990.

First of all, welcome back Abby. Long time no see.

As far as Cyberpunk 2077, I pretty much come down in the middle of the discussion. On one hand, I don't think its a bad game, at least not what I've played of it so far. However, I do agree about how CDPR released the game too soon and unpolished to get those holiday release sales. I have experienced some bugs, but they are mostly minor so far, mainly clipping issues with characters. Some NPCs walking into walls, stuff like that. I also agree that most reviewers gave CDPR the benefit of the doubt and told consumers "don't worry, they will fix all the bugs." Given they did eventually do this with The Witcher 3, I can kind of see it, but at the same time they should have learned from their mistakes with The Witcher 3 and came correct with Cyberpunk.

When Microsoft delayed Halo Infinite until the end of next year, people were angry. But now their decision doesn't look so bad given how much of a blow up Cyberpunk is. The sad truth is, because of the technology, consumers are going to have to wait a long time now to enjoy a solid AAA game. Good thing there is a long list of good indie titles to smooth things over in the meantime.

And I agree with Jeff, they can't keep releasing unfinished games and then patch them up later while charging full price, especially if that price is eventually going to be 70 dollars for AAA titles.

Wtf is Ben on about with his wide generalizations of people playing Cyberpunk essentially being fleeced for playing it? And passing off that shit as facts? The only thing that approachs what he's claiming is the misleading ad campaign for the horrible console versions.

Sorry that I don't feel robbed for playing something I've been enjoying.

in short I've been having fun in Cyberpunk for the most part but I also do wish a lot of things about it were better. Like I think if you make a big open city and driving is a prime component of getting around you should probably make sure the driving physics are a lot more fun. Also on the topic of driving a lot of games have managed to get more creative with their GPS routes so that you're not just glued to the minimap and missing the entire world passing you by. With the whole Cyberpunk aesthetic the game is begging for you to have the GPS line painted on the road or giving you turn markers in the world as part of some ocular implant.

So it's mainly stuff like that. Things that aren't real game changers but nevertheless things that sometimes feel odd, or dated, or just out of place. I mean the control scheme and UI and menu arrangement.. it's a mess. Little quality of life things would go a long way to smoothing all of this out. Yesterday I was doing a quest where all I had to do was pickup a reward from a Ripperdoc and I had to look this up on YouTube because I could not seemingly find the free item and the game doesn't just point you to it.

Guys, anyone got a timestamp for when Cyberpunk chat ends?

I wanna listen to all this after I finish the game. There's barely any spoilers but tbh I want to hear nothing about late game.

Can't wait to go back and hear the gangs late game thoughts though.

I'm not really down with that. As opposed to taking a week off work to go hiking in the woods? So you can sit around and look at "goddamn" trees all day? If it's your hobby and you enjoy it then go for it. I would just do it responsibly and make sure it's gonna be worth it. I mean at the end of the day you still have a week off work (hopefully paid time off) so it's always something. Infantilizing gaming as a hobby just perpetuates this shitty stereotype that it's something for children and not anything a respectable "adult" would be caught doing.

The point of adding such a big (awful) rider to legislation is to make damn sure it doesn't pass. Republicans do this all the time. Add something to a bill you don't like that nobody in their right mind will vote for *in addition to* the bill itself, thereby killing the bill as-is, forcing a complete rewrite from scratch.

Going by everything I've seen and heard Cyberpunk should not have been released yet! Certainly not on PS4 & Xbox One.

But that said, my personal experience is, I have played 22hrs on PC and REALLY enjoyed my time with the game so far.

It was a running joke in my elementary school that the gym teacher at my school played Zordon, because they looked practically identical. So that's who played him, as far as I'm concerned.

Brad had to try like six times to get that "they killed Mass Effect" joke out during the ME talk, because he kept getting cut off. I felt bad for him.

If the federal-prison-time-law that has to do with online streaming of copyrighted material comes into play it's really going to benefit the creatoris in a huge way, like whith the record companies destroying the internet to make sure the artists get paid. They get paid so much now, the artists! Ohboy, let me tell you. The money, oh it is so good. All that money, mmmm! Raining down from above now that piracy is over!
Record companies took all of the revenue. The artists got less, and not only that, artists now no longer have _ANY_ way to be discovered by new audiences... We're 40 years past radio. 25 ears past MTV mattering. After that era the musicians kinda lucked out, let me say that again, ARTISTS LUCKED OUT AND GOT PLAYED BY A POPULAR YOUTUBER OR STREAMER... By being played by that tuber you're getting maybe a few million fresh ears for your sweetest beats........... They put an end to this under the guise of making sure the artists got paid...... If Pewdiepie played one of your songs, that would literally be a gazillion bucks worth of PR.. But nah, wouldn't want that.
Someone needs to throttle these fucks before they literally destroy the internet fully. People who think that record labels and movie studios won't put people in prison have NO IDEA how ruthless these fucks actually are. The industry literally hire ruthless psychopath fucks specifically to deal with this, and they go at people HARD. Now, with the ability to seek prison time, they 100% absolutely definitely will. Not just that, they'll automate the whole thing. There's going to be a reign of terror coming from this. You used to get your youtube channel banned and lose all your revenue. Now you'll get a takedown message and realize that there's a literal chance of prison time attached to it...... That's not nothing.
Also, all protest videos on the internet will be removed because of music in the background. They are literally wiping out the internet and making fact checking EXTREMELY hard. They have WAY too much power to manipulate the public records with these things. I've seen videos disappear over the years, important videos, just poof! gone. Guess it never happened.
Or on the flipside, if I was to go around just throwing slurs and shit all over the place, or going full on racist Karen, all I would need to do to do that safely without risking any consequences is play Nickelback on full blast on my phone while I'm in a psychotic tantrum... The evidence is literally unpublishable. Your evidence of my horribleness will never be seen. On the flipside of that, cops only need a boombox with some Metallica on it to beat the shit out of someone and the evidence will never be seen by the general public. It will be insta-deleted even before hitting youtube. How's that sound in terms of exposing corruption and similar? I can bribe and blackmail as long as I have a loud soundtrack to go along with my atrocities.
Congrats, rich fucks. The collateral damage is going to have horrible sociopolitical effects. The fact that we let the entertainment industry bone us like this should be a point of intense shame for humanity at large. Literally letting the _entertainment industry_ dictate how the god damned internet is supposed to work... Like the internet is the property of streaming services and shit... It is not.. It would make more sense to let Reddit dictate shit than Warner Bros...

Gotta stop taking the entertainment industry so seriously. They make movies and shit, they should dictate exactly _nothing_ in our lives. Nothing.
