Quick Look: High on Life

@jeffgrubb@voidburger Do you get to kill Justin Roiland voiced characters all the time? If so I might pick this up. But if it's just him voicing the gun, Hard Pass.

I am here for the RedLetterMedia guys and them MST3K'ing bad movies.

As someone with no attachment to Roiland, some of the extended videos I've seen of this look kinda cool. I'll check it out and probably have a fun time. *shrugs*

Game Pass has been full of smaller scoped games like this, stuff that's 10 hours or shorter that's well made and polished. I've played more games than ever this year and I'm loving it (for less money with less time investment somehow). 40 hour AAA games have their place but I'm glad there's room for this sort of stuff again.

The gameplay is surprisingly good and the loop really addictive. Throwing in Metroidvania style gating through ability progression is always smart. The shooting also has surprising depth to it with enemies having armor and abilities that can interact with that in various ways. I mean it's no Doom Eternal but it's a lot more than a simple left trigger right trigger shooter.

Ultimately if you hate Rick and Morty then you already know not to get anywhere near this game. It is that style of humor and then some.

I'm glad someone else pushed through the first hour or two to get to the good stuff. I'm loving this game.

Well, currently, it's not made to be played on my PC either, as it's one of the most stuttery games I've tried to play on it. 16GB RAM, RTX 3060, Ryzen 2600X. Near unplayable. Runs great on the Series X, though.

Jess if you sit on the Couch he shuts up and you can watch the movie with no interruptions at least for the like 20 mins i did thinking a achievement will pop

As someone who is into Justin Roiland's style of humor I have been having a lot of fun with this game. There's a ton of terrific ambient dialogue that just goes on and on when you stop and listen to conversations or linger in an area.

Definitely worth pushing through the early game because I'm having a really good time with it. Biggest game pass surprise for me this year. Great quick look Jess and Jeff!

I enjoyed the hell out of Trover Saves the Universe, and easily doubled my playtime with the amount of time I spent just standing still until all of an NPC's dialogue was exhausted. It's staggering, how much was recorded with the certainty that fewer than 10% of players may ever hear it.

Granted, this game's presence on Gamepass makes it a slam dunk. But I'm really eager to take this for a spin and have some laughs.

This game looks better then expected but I kinda hate that they used AI art in it.
