Well, Dan spent a few months getting his feet wet at GB. And I guess now the floodgates of dumb (yet creative) shit have opened.

Frankly, the loser deserved their fate after that late game speedrunning revelation.

Loved this. Dan's ridiculous games were the thing I missed the most when he was gone. Only thing is, dang Jess should've been penalized for those faeries!

Dan with challenges like Seltzser do the inverse time. So for instance he can freeze jess for 60 seconds MINUS how long it takes him to chug the can. So faster he does it, longer she is frozen (increase 60 seconds to 2 min or whatever you want the freeze of Jess to be). @danryckert

I introduced my roommate to GB mostly through Beastcrew videos. When I told her than Dan came back as creative director, she said she hoped to see more ridiculous game shows. This was wildly entertaining! We were both laughing our asses off at Dan's off the wall rules and challenges. Please turn this (or something like this) into a series!

I'm probably in the minority here but I think the Inception-ing to other games was honestly a little too much. At least beyond the original 10 rupees stipulation. There didn't really need to be a penalty for dying outside of BotW. I was really happy at least when Dan let up on the save state requirement and let Grubb just always start over in Zelda 1. When he reset the counter after the first trip to Punch Out, that was just cruel and not in a "teehee" kind of way. Here's hoping if there are more of these the rules will be more balanced.

Grubb is a total mensch of good sportsmanship and a far better dude than me, though. And the cider chug was an instant GB highlight for years to come.

Dan dropped the ball by not stipulating that all items procured to get to the desert be discarded beforehand, but, hey, still a really fun and silly idea. More of this nonsense, please. I love the friendly competition.

Jeff, the apple is the most villainous fruit. You should have cackled like a madman while you ate it, observed Jess's strat, then gone into battle with a full stomach and a bulletproof start. You did like, the exact opposite though.

Disgustingly poor sportsmanship from Jess to start with fairies and potions to be honest. But ultimately that falls on Dan for not putting a stop to it, or simply having the players dump their inventory at the start. How hard would that have been?

Very neat concept, but a little more thought devoted to the execution would have gone a long way.

The look on Dan and Jess' faces after Grubb's whistle strategy big reveal at the end was amazing.

Jeff screwed himself so many times by quitting out of BotW right as he died, so BEFORE the respawn and autosave, I'm an hour and half in and so far no one's even noticed.

Edit: Good thing neither of them know about the easily horse-accessible road into Akkala.

In the first 10 minutes of this, Dan has the most "asshole abuser who will harass the life out of anyone that ever says no to him" energy I've seen in a while.

Kind of shocking to me, the whistle run thing was like week one or two BotW tech, I used it a ton in my playthrough. Though it makes sense since Dan played a majority of the game before it came out. It is not as fast as regular sprinting but obviously it lasting indefinitely is a huge boon. Nintendo had the chance to patch it out multiple times and did not, though we will see with TotK if it stays or the controls are changed to make it impossible.

This was truly incredible.

Amazing idea for a feature and I was so excited when I saw the ideas start pouring in to Dan's discord channel for it. Unfortunately the video quality for this feature and other GB content just doesn't seem competitive compared to what other game streamers are doing. I say that only in regards to the amount of video compression that's present. The final video looks like low bitrate 720p (I know the actual video file isn't low bitrate 720p but after all the various stages of compression is sure doesn't look like it should).

I assume a lot of this has to do with all the different remote streams coming in, but man the video quality has taken a major hit. If everyone is beaming their video feeds to one person who's doin all the directing then the final video is getting compressed multiple times along the way and it is very noticeable.

I honestly don't know what the answer is, but maybe who ever is doin the gameplay should be the stream host? I know with something like UPF that's a lil difficult since that's changing with each segment, so idk.

Again, amazing feature but I really think the current remote video setup needs looking into as video quality is far behind what others are doing.

Also the video file for download that is labelled 8000kbps is actually only 4777kbps which is probably exacerbating the issue with this particular video.

Hyrule Hustle becoming a series in the lead up to BOTW2 is just perfect. Random idea for the future: a relay race!

Also, speaking of Nextlander, I think BOTW is one of those tentpole games that the guys didn't get all that far in. This could be an awesome excuse to get them to pick it up again, lol.

Some say to this day Jeff Grubb is still stuck on that area with the two bridges...

Thus is a very, VERY good template for a series. More Zelda, Witcher, GTA, etc. etc. the principle could even translate to non open world games.
